Hoag, a resident of Seaforth for over fifty years, who enjpyed the kindly regard and respect •of a wide circle of friends. The late Mrs. Hoag was born in Peel Township, Wellington County, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James A. McLellan, who were des- cendants -of united Empire Loyalists who settled in Nova Scotia, later coming to York County. Her early life was spent at Strathroy. In 1892 she married Mr. Wni. D. Hoag, who predeceased (her thirteen years. Fol- lowing the marriage :they came to Seaforth. She is survived by a daugh- ter, Edith . N., at home, and a son, Percy W., of the Lucknow high school staff. She was a member of North- side United Church, which she at- tended faithfully until prevented from doing so by failing health. Of a kind, genial disposition, she was be- loved by all • her neighbors and friends. The funeral took place on Monday, July 9th, from her late resi- dence. The service was conducted by Rev. A. W. Gardiner in the absence of . her minister, Rev. H. V. Work- man. During the service Mr. and Mrs. James A. Stewart. accompanied on the piano by Ernie Clarke, beauti- fully sang one of her favorite hymns, "Face To Face." The pallbearers were Dr. Harburn, Clare Reith, M. McKellar, Robert Joynt, Levi Makins and Gordon Muir. Flower bearers were Dr. F. J. Burrows, Richard Box, Albert Baker, William Box and Her- old Lawrence. Interment was made in. Kinnear - Baker.—Spring flowers deoorated Northside United Church, Seaforth, on Saturday, June 30th, for a quiet but. pretty wedding at high noon when Janet Alberta, only daugh- ter of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Baker, of Seaforth, was united in marriage to Albert Gordon, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Norman Kinnear, of• St. Cathar- ines. Rev. H. V. Workman officiat- ed. The bride, given in marriage by her father, was lovely in a floor - length gown of white triple sheer with; embroidered bodice and shoul- der-Iength veil caught with white flowers, and carried a bouquet of American Beauty roses. Her orna- ments were' a string of pearls and matching ear -rings, gifts of the bride- groom. Mrs. Alex Baker, of Mitchell, sister-in-law of the bride, was matron of honor. Miss Ruth Kinner, of St. Catharines, sister of the'bridegroom, was bridesmaid, both .being dressed in floor -length frocks of white sheer and headdresses' of pink flowers and net, carrying bouquets of pink and. white carnations. Mr. Alex Baker, of Mitchell, was the bridegroom's at- tendant. The bride's mother chose a -twu-piece dress of flowered jersey, mauve hat, white accessories and a shoulder corsage of'pink carnations and white sweet peas. The mother of the bridegroomwore pink crepe • dress, white hat and accessories and ''a shoulder corsage of pink carnations and sweet peas. The wedding dinner was served at the Commercial Hotel, Seaforth. The bride's table was pret- tily decorated with pink streamers, candles, bouquets of sweet peas and centered with a lovely three-storey wedding cake. All members of the immediate families were present with the exception of A/B. Aubrey Baker, of the Royal Navy, London,- England, and Bandsman Kenneth Kennear, R. C.N.V.R., Halifax, N.S. The bride- groom's ,gift to the groomsman was a leather billfold and china brooches to the bridesmaid and matron of honor. For travelling the bride chose an Alice blue wool dressmaker suit with White accessories and corsage of red roses. The happy couple left amid Showers of confetti and good Wishes for a two weeks' trip to Montreal and Quebec City. On their return they will reside in St. Catharines. tS Chris. St. Andrew's United Church' lawn, Kippen. was the scene of a lovely af- fair Wednesday evening, July 4th,. when the ladies' of the church spon- sored a most sdccessful ham and strawberry supper, many coming long distances to lend their patronage, with Hensall well 'represented. A most delicious supper was served, topped off with strawberries and cream, home-made cakes, etc. Ten ; 'tables were attractively centred with . lovely vases of roses, pansies and other flowers. Over $201) were the gate receipts and $60 was • realized ' from the sale of strawberries, home- made cooking and donations Pram members of the congregation unable to attend.
