Northside W. A. Meets.—The gen-
eral meeting of the Northside United
Church Woman's Association was
held Monday evening, June 25th, in
the basement of the church. The
hymn, "0 Master, Let Me Walk With
Thee," 1,145 followed by the scripture
lesson, Psalm 92, read by Mrs. J.
Finlayson. Prayer and a reading
about a minister's farewell to the
empty pews was given by Mrs. H. V.
Workman. The, minutes were read,
followed by the reports of the differ-
ent secretaries. Mrs. L. Dale was
appointed converter of the .parsonage
committee with Mrs. J. Currie added
to her committee. The hymn, "0
God of Love, O King of Peace," was
followed by the Mizpah benediption.

the bridesmaids. 'Greetings were read
from Vancouver, B.C., Prince Albert,
Sask., Mesita, Man„ Cobourg, Ont.,
Val d'Or, Que., and Croydon, England.
The happy couple left later for a holi-
day trip in Northern Ontario, for
which the bride chose a smart ice
blue suit with a yellow straw cloche
and snatching accessories. Her cor-
sage was of yellow tea roses. On
their return the young couple will
reside in Woodbridge. The bride's

United Church, Toronto, was the
scene of a very 'happy event on Sat-
urday, June Nth, when Mr. T. L.
Gillespie, son of Mr. and Mrs. Neil
Gillespie, of Seafdrth, was united in
Marriage to Miss Madeline Isabelle
Walpole, only daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Walter Grant, of Saskatoon.
The ceremony was performed by Rev.
C. Mustard, pastor of the church, as-
sisted by Rev. R. G. MacKay, of
Woodbridge. The bride, who was
given away by Mr. Grant, was beau=
tifully gowned in ivory satin and
lace, with veil and tiara of orange
blossoms. Her attendant," Miss Mar-
jorie McDonald, chose an orchid
shade for her dress with shoulder
•veil. Both carried bouquets of roses
and sweet peas. The 'groom was as-
sipted by his nephew, Lt. G. N. Gil-
lespie, of Shiro, Manitoba. The ush-
ers were Mr. K. Ferris, of Toronto,
and Mr. T. L. Scott, of Cromarty.
Beautiful music was rendered
throughout the service by Mr. Mont-
rose. The reception was "held in the
Church Hall, which was tastefully
decorated for the occasion. After a
honeymoon spent in Muskoka, Mr.
and Mrs. Gillespie will reside in To-
ronto.
Tajrior - McKay.—Ferns and, early
summer flowers formed a beautiful
background in 'Woodbridge Presby-
terian Church Saturday afternoon,
June 23rd, when Margaret Jean,
daughter of. Rev. and Mrs. R. G. Ide-
Kay, of Woodbridge, formerly, of
Walkerton, becamethe wife of Ken-
neth Denton Taylor, son of Mr. and
Mrs. G. W, Taylor, of Cobourg. The
ceremony *as performed by Rev: R.
G. McKay, father of the bride, assist-
ed by Rev. "'H. 'N. W. Bracken, of
Mono Mills. Mr. J. A. Hay, of Wal-
kerton, presided at the organ
throughout the service. As' a wor-
shipful preliminary to the entry of
the bridal party, Lieut: A. S. McKay,
R.C.N.V.R., brother of the bride, sang
"The Lord's Prayer" from the back
of the church. During the ceremony
Miss Orpha Farr, of Woodbridge,
sang the beautiful prayer -hymn, -"O
Perfect Love," _while the bride and
groom were kneeling. , During the
signing of the register, Miss Farr
sang "Still As the Night, Deep As
the Sea.." Given in marriage by her
brother, Lieut. A. S. McKay, the bride
was charming 14 a floor -length gown
of white slipper satin with a train
and featuringa moulded barque,
sweetheart neckline and long tapered'
sleeves. She wore a long heirloom
veil caught with traditional orange
blossoms and carried a cascade of
Token roses and gypsophila. The
matron of honor, Mrs. Richard Nel-
son, of Prince Albert, Sask., wore a
frock of white organdy embroidered
in pastel silk with a long fitted bod-
ice and full skirt, over white taffeta
with matching ruffled mitts. The oth-
er attendants, Miss, Margaret Mc-
Naughton, of Prince Albert, Sask.,
and 'Miss Audrey Taylor, sister of the.
groom, -wore matching costumes over
apple green and orchid taffeta. Tbey
ollaaatarried colonial nosegays of
sweet peas, prethrun and clarkla in
Pastel shades, centred with briarcliffe
noses. They wore matching flower
chaplets with, shdrt veils. The groom
was attended by Mr. Don Manson, of
Toronto. The ushers were Mr. Hub-
ert Owen, of Electric, cousin of the
bride, and Mr. Jack Sanders, of To-
mato, cousin of the groom. The.Pres-

bomber and had been 913_ ten opera-
tional flights in the European theatre,
one of which was the raid on
Berchtesgaden on April 25th. He
returned, on the Aquitania after being
in England 14 months.

Manitoba, is visiting his parents, Mr.
and Mrs. John McClure.
What might haveabeen a serious
accident 'happened on Monday after-
noon about four o'clock at the Win-
throp.ehopping mill, when . Mr. Eph-
riam Haase fell from a scaffold, land-
ing on his back and breaking several
ribs and receiving a bad bruise on
his head. Dr. Stapleton was called
and the injured man was removed to
his home. He is now resting quite
comfortably.'
Honor Newly -'Weds
A large crowd of friends and neigh-
bors gathered in Winthrop Hall last
Thursday evening to honor the new-
ly-weds, Mr. and 'Mrs. Harold Agar,
of Roxboro. After a few hours of
'dancing, a bountiful lunch was serv-
ed and Mr. and Mrs. Agar were then
called to the platform. An address
was read by Mr. Sam Scott and a
purse of money prfisented to. the bride
and groom by Mr: Peter McCowan:
Haroldmade a suitable reply in his
Usual -pleasing way. After Showering
them with -confetti, all joined in sing-
ing "For They Are Jolly Good Fel-
lows." Mr. James T. Scott favored
the audience with a solo, and danc-
ing continued for a few hours.

don, have leased the large Metcalf
residence for July. .
Mr. John Bates, of the public
school, left for his home in Brussels
on Saturday, to spend the holidays..
The members of L.O.L. No, : 24 will
attend divine service at Trinity An-
glican Church on Sunday, July 8th,
at 11 o'clock. Rev. Mr. Holmes, rec-
tor of the church, will preach to the
brethren.

WINTHROP
A reception was held in Winthrop
hall on Friday evening, June 29th, in
honor of Mr. and Mrs. George Bern-
ard, who were married recently.
About one hundred and fifty friends
and neighbors attended, and the eve-
ning was spent in dancing. During
lunch hour Misses Lois and Doreen
Hogg favored with duets. As a token
of the esteem and good wishes of all,
present the . bride and groom were
presented with a walnut china cab-
ihet, a purse of money and several
other gifts. The address was read
by Miss 'Edith Blanchard, voicing the
good wishes of everyone for their
future happiness together.
'Mrs. J. M. Gillies, Bruce and
Jackie are spending, the holidays with
her parents at Collingwood.
Mr. and Mrs. Bert McSpadden and
Jackie, of London, and Mrs. Jack Me-
Spadden, of Hamilton, visited with
relatives over the week -end.
Pte. R. K. Davidson, of Ipperwash,
visited with his wife and family in
