Branch of the W.A.,. St Thout,as'
Church, held a skating Party on Mon-
day, Jan. 29th. The girls had - a very
enjoyable time skating in the Palace
Arena, after which they returned to
the Parish Hall where refreshments
were seryed.

Meeting of Girl Guides. -The week-
ly meeting of the Girl Guided was
heli] last Thursday evening. There
was a small attendance. The meet-
ing opened with "God Save the' King."
Preceding the study period; 'inspec-
tion was held. Then 'a word game
was played with 'First and 'Second
Patrols tieing with 10 points, and
Third and Fourth Patrols with five
points each: The flag was lowered
and the meeting closed with Taps -

ular meeting of the Northside
was held on Tuesday, Jan. 30th. The
meeting opened by singing Hymn 500,
followed by the Lord's Prayer in uni-
son. The Scripture reading was giv-
en by Edith Blanchard. The minutes
of the last meeting were read and
th'e 4o11 'call answered and, the col-
lection was taken up. Hymn 504 *as
sung, followed by a prayer by Mabel
Campbell. A social hour was spent
and the -evening closed by singing
"God Save the King."

er for a short trip, after which they
will reside in Goderidii. The bride
previous to her marriage was hon-
ored by several showers given by
some of her\friends: Mrs. M. Crans-
ton, Miss Catharine Barton. and Mrs.

ding was solemnized .at the home of

when their daughter,' Pauline Una,
was united in marriage' to Mr. , Clif-
ford Robert Lowery, son of Mr. and
Mrs. George Lowery, of Seaforth.
Callas and ferns made an attractive
setting for the bridal ceremony 'which
v -as performed by the Rev. R. Stew-
art, of Knox Presbyterian Church.
The couple were unattended, and Miss
'Margaret Mason played the wedding
music. • The bride, given in. marriage
by her father, was 'charming in a two-
piece dress of Kiev crepe, the jacket.,
-of the costume trimmed with gold kid.

McNeil was the daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. William Murdock, of ]Brucefleld,',

families. Prior to her marriage, she'
taught school on the River .Road,
Southwold Township. Surviving are
her husband, a New York Central en-
gineer; a son, Capt. Jack ' Mcl`leil,..
with the Canadian Army in Italy; her
daughter, -Mrs. W. P. Golden, at borne
and two brothers, Dr. A. C. Murdock,
Vancouver, and John R. Murdock, of
Brucefleld. The body rested. .at the
residence, 231/2 Chestnut Street and
the funeral was held at the L. B. Sit
ton funeral home on Monday at 2.30
p.m. Rev. H. S. Rodney officiated,
and interment was made at the Flm-
"dale Memorial Park Cemetery.

Was, held at St. Columban Church on
Friday morning Iast at 10.30 a.m. Re-
quiem High Mass was celebrated by
Rev. Father' O'Drowski. A large
group of relativee'and friends attend-
ed the funeral. The pallbearers were
John Louis Malone, Peter Hicknell,
James Carlin, John E. Daley, Joseph
Ryan and Kenneth Stewart. Those
attending the funeral from a distance
were: Mr. and Mrs. , Leo McKay, 'of
Detroit; Mr. and Mrs, Tom McKay
and Mary, of Galt; Mr. and Mts.

An inquest concehning the death -of
the late Bruce Moore was held in the•
Town Hall "on Friday of last week.
The remains of the deceased were
found in. the ashes of his home which
was burned down on Thanksgiving
night. Crown Attorney Holmes, of
Goderich, and Dr. Shaw,- coroner, of
Clinton, conducted the inquest, assist-
ed by County Constavles Fox and
Gardiner; of Goderich, and Constable'
Parker, of the village. The jury whs
composed 'of John Came.rdn (fore-
man). John Howard, John Castle, Mal-
colm Thorns and Liyod Scotchmer.
Eighteen' witnesses gave evidence and
tile jury then brought in a verdict
that he came to his death by fire of
unknown cause.,
Red Cross Annual Meeting
The annual meeting of the Red
Cross was held 'in the Orange Hall
on ' Thursday evening of last week
with .a good attendance. Rev. 'Mt.
Caldwell opened the meeting by scrip-
'ture reading and prayer, rief re-
ports were given by the ecretar'y
Mrs, Robert Scotchmer, and he treas-
urer, Mrs. Alma Basset,, 'also by. the
president, Miss A. M. Stirling. Mr.
John Parker took thechair for the
-election of officers, which resulted

McNeil was the daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. William Murdock, of ]Brucefleld,',

families. Prior to her marriage, she'
taught school on the River .Road,
Southwold Township. Surviving are
her husband, a New York Central en-
gineer; a son, Capt. Jack ' Mcl`leil,..
with the Canadian Army in Italy; her
daughter, -Mrs. W. P. Golden, at borne
and two brothers, Dr. A. C. Murdock,
Vancouver, and John R. Murdock, of
Brucefleld. The body rested. .at the
residence, 231/2 Chestnut Street and
the funeral was held at the L. B. Sit
ton funeral home on Monday at 2.30
p.m. Rev. H. S. Rodney officiated,
and interment was made at the Flm-
"dale Memorial Park Cemetery.

The funeral of Joseph A. Murray
Was, held at St. Columban Church on
Friday morning Iast at 10.30 a.m. Re-
quiem High Mass was celebrated by
Rev. Father' O'Drowski. A large
group of relativee'and friends attend-
ed the funeral. The pallbearers were
John Louis Malone, Peter Hicknell,
James Carlin, John E. Daley, Joseph
Ryan and Kenneth Stewart. Those
attending the funeral from a distance

Detroit; Mr. and Mrs, Tom McKay

An inquest concehning the death -of
the late Bruce Moore was held in the•
Town Hall "on Friday of last week.
The remains of the deceased were
found in. the ashes of his home which
was burned down on Thanksgiving
night. Crown Attorney Holmes, of
Goderich, and Dr. Shaw,- coroner, of
Clinton, conducted the inquest, assist-
ed by County Constavles Fox and
Gardiner; of Goderich, and Constable'
Parker, of the village. The jury whs
composed 'of John Came.rdn (fore-
man). John Howard, John Castle, Mal-
colm Thorns and Liyod Scotchmer.
Eighteen' witnesses gave evidence and
tile jury then brought in a verdict
that he came to his death by fire of
unknown cause.,
Red Cross Annual Meeting
The annual meeting of the Red
Cross was held 'in the Orange Hall
on ' Thursday evening of last week
with .a good attendance. Rev. 'Mt.
Caldwell opened the meeting by scrip-
'ture reading and prayer, rief re-
ports were given by the ecretar'y
Mrs, Robert Scotchmer, and he treas-
urer, Mrs. Alma Basset,, 'also by. the
president, Miss A. M. Stirling. Mr.
John Parker took thechair for the
