held Monday, Oct., 3.Qth, at 8 pan. The.
Meeting opened with the'byuin, "Love
I]ivine, .All' Loves Excelling."' The
minutes were read and the Young
People's Union of Victoria St. United
Church, Goderich, conducted the wor-
-ship service- The hymn, "A ,Charge
To Keep -1 Have," was sung. The re-
mainder of the evening was Pleasant-
ly spent in Hallowe'en games and
Contests. Lunch was served and the
meeting closed with singing "Auld
Lang Syne" and "God Save t'he,King.",

retary from Rev. Vincent Eckert,

the Atonement for literature receiy.

personal property bags, 10 diapers, '20
sanitary pads, '6 'pre. pyjamas, 90
handkerchiefs and 3 quilts. A 'quilt-
ing bee was held during the month
with,. 18 ladies present and three
quilts were completed. One top and
lining were. donated by Mrs. H. M.
Bricklin; one top by Mrs. J. O'Hara,
,and one by Mrs. Jack Shea. The
League recently packed and" shipped
18 overseas boxes; each box contain-
ing 1-1b. Christmas cake; soda bis-
cuits, cookies, meat,. "honey, cheese,
3 chocolate bars, soap, flints, razor
blades, gum, handkerchiefs,'I face

The autumn thankoffering ineeting
of the W.M.S. was held at the home
of Mrs. Austin Dertter on, Wednesday
afternoon, Oct. 25th, with a good at-
tendance, Mrs. Wm. Britton taking
charge. The " theme was "The Con-
secration .of Our Kingdom For Their
Sake." Mrs. 'Peter Lindsay read, "If
You Were God, and God Were, You."
The Lord's Prayer was repeated in
unison, followed by the, hymn, "One
There is Above All Others, Oh How
He Loves"; reading. by Mrs. Earl
Lawson, ''Keep Holding., On"; reading\
by Mrs. B. Stephenson, "I Do Not
Know." Prayer was offered by Mrs.
P. Lindsay, Mrs. Robert Rogerson,
Mrs. B. Snell and Mrs. Britton, fol-
lowed by a reading :by Mrs. Dave Mill -
son, "Not Afraid," written by a
wounded . soldier. Mrs. A. E. Menzies,
the guest speaker, then gave an in-
teresting -resume of the book entitled,
"The -Robe," written •by Lloyd C.
Douglas. The hymn, "How Sweet the
Name of Jesus Sounds," .was sung. 'A
vote of thanks was given Mrs. Dex-
ter and Mrs. Menzies. Mrs. Menzies
closed the meeting with prayer, fol.
lowed . by the collection. Lunch was
served.
The farm forum was held at the
-home of Mr. and Mrs. William Jewitt
an Monday evening. '

Seaforth, were Sunday evening guests
of Mr. and Mrs. B. B. Stephenson.
Mrs: J. J. Hugill spent a few days
with her daughter and son-in-law, Mr.

of Circles Nos. 1 and 2 of the W.A.
Miss Charmers is, at present visiting
in the neighborhood.
The, weather has taken a decided
change and we are having very heavy
frosts for this time of the year. We
hope that we will have some mild
weatheseyet in view -of the' fowl sup-
per which will take place before long.

The choir is busy preparing music
for the anniversary. Rev. Mr. Tay-

ed for the fall;' anniversary. Large
crowds were present at both services'
here that •day. In the morning Rev.
Goodger, of Kirkton,.,was the speaker
and gave a very inspiring address. In
the evening Rev. E. sAids.worth, of St.
Marys, preached a fine sermon, The
choir rendered anthems at (both sere
vides. The floral bouquets of chys-
anthemume brightened the front of.
