Young 'People's Union was held on
Rhiesday. The meeting opened with
the hymn, ".Mine Eyes Have Seen the
Glory;" followed by a short business
discussion. The minutes . were read
and adopted, the roll called and the
offering received. A social hour was
spent in games and contests., Lunch
was served and the meeting closed
with "God Save the King" and the'1Mizpah benediction.

Girl Guides Meet. At the last meet-
ing eighteen Guides answered the roll
call, Was the weather too' wet for
the rest of you? Will the Guides
please notice that the next meeting
will .be .on .Tuesday, the 17th, but
from then on they will be held on
Thursdays. Three new members
have joined and' two old one return-
ed. At the Court of Honor it was
decided that some Guides were in line
for promotion.

Died ' in•-Toronto.=The death took
place in Toronto on Friday, October
6th, of Miss Catherine Kerr; the re-
sult of a heart attack. Miss Kerr
was born in Seaforth in 1894, the on-
ly daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs.
William Kerr, and had lived in To-
ronto for a number of years. She is
survived by one brother, Mr. William
J. Kerr, of Seaforth; one half-brother,
Dan McLeod, of Los Angeles, Cay
and an uncle, Min. William McLeod,
of Port 'H'hron. The funeral was held
on Sunday afternoon from the home
of Mr. Wm. Kerr," with Rev. R. H.
Williams officiating. The pallbearers
were Messrs. Dalton L. Reid, W. J -
Duncan, Homer Hunt, Wm. Smith, P.
J. Dorsey and John. McKenzie. The
flower bearers were Roy Kerr, -Scott
Kerr, John McLean, and R. Modeland.
Interment was made in Maitlandbank
cemetery.

and maiden hair fern. The bride was
attended by Mrs, Russell Hayter, of
London, who wore a brown street
length dress and matching accessor-
ies, and .wore a eorsage of Better
Times roses and maiden hair fern.
The groom was attended by Mr. Rus-
sell Hayter, also of London. After
the ceremony -a-•' wedding dinner was
served at 'the home Of Mr. and Mrs.
Russell Hayter. On their return Mr.
and Mrs. Chambery will reside in Sea -

McFarlane on Wednesday afternoon,
Oct. 4th, with a fair attendance. The
president had full charge of the meet-
ing. Mrs. John Boyd, Jr., read the
Scripture lesson from Luke 10:25-37.
Mrs. Wm. Church led in prayer, Ex-
tracts from the Missionary Monthly -
program were given by Mrs. Allan
Ross land Mrs., McFarlane. An en-
couraging report for the third quar-
ter of the W.M.S: 'was given. jf ants:
Gardiner, of Egmondville, was guest
speaker. She gave a very =inspiring
address. The theme of her message
was our duties as parents for the
new ,generation, Be 'pioneers • like our
ancestors were and put first things'
first. The only way is put our hand
in th-e hand Of God and pioneer back

poem, "May God Glide Us, Friend.",

The . anniversary -services of Caven
Church were held -on Thanksgiving
Sunday. Large crowds attended both
morning and evening with Rea. R. G.
Hazlewood, of Walton, conducting'the
services. The choir, under the leader-
ship' of Mrs. Frank Johnston, was, as-
s:steel by . the male quartette of First
Presbyterian Church, Seaforth, In the
morning they sang tyro excellent num-
bers, "Steal Away To Jesus" and "Let
the Lower Lights. Be Burning, and in
the evening, "Somebody's Knocking
At Your Door" and '"Bid the- Din. of
Battle Cease,;' ' Two pleasing soros
were also rendered. Miss Margaret
Habkirk favored 'with "Bless This
House," accompanied.on the piano by
her sister, Jean, Mrs; Robert McKer-
cher sang a lovely number, "My
World."„ Rev. Mr. Hazlewood gave
two very impressive tied inspiring
sermons', In the meaning he chose
as his ' subject,' "Abiding Realities;:"
