Rintoul - Fraiser.-,-Roses, delphini- ums and lilies formed a beautiful set- ting for a quiet wedding performed at the home of Cameron and Mrs. Rin- toul, Mitchell, on Saturday, July ' 8th, at 2 'p.m., when the former's brother, James Reginald Sinclair Rintoul and Edith Ruth Fraiser, of Seaforth, were married by' the Rev, 'Mr. Johnston, minister of Main Street United Church, Mitchell. The bridal party took their places before a beautiful background of flowers. The lovely bride was attired in a street -length dress of white sheer. Her shoulder - length' veal was fashioned in halo if -r fect, and she carried a bridal bouquet of pink roses. Her attendant as ma- tron of honor, Mrs. Cameron Rintoul, was dressed in pink sheer and she al- so wore shoulder -length veil fashion- ed as the bride's in pink, and carried a Colonial bouquet of roses. 'Joanne and Mary Ellen, winsome little daugh- ter* of Mrs. Rintoul, Mitchell, and Pte. Mac Rintoul, at present with the forces in Italy, acted as flower girl and rung -bearer, wearing pink organ- dy dresses. Cameron Rintoul acted as groomsman for his brother. After the ceremony a dainty luncheon was served to the immediate relatives of the bride and groom. The bride don .ned 'a blue sheer dress with hat and - accessories to match for the wedding- trip, which will include Hamilton, Nia- gara and other points: .. Gou die's farm., - • Miss Marion Lawson returned to kitchener on Sunday after spending a week at the home -cif her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Lawson, -Huron high - William Herbert Speare.—It is with deep regret and a very keen sense of loss that we record the passing of William Herbert ("Bert') Speare on June 8, 1944. Porn. at Seaforth, Ont., Ben started as night operator in 1905, and three years later he was transferred to Wingham as operator. In 1912 he was appointed switchboard man in London. Ont., where he re- mained for nine years.- Transferring to'• Montreal -as equipment -inspector on the staff of "the late A. L. Dyke, •he travelled extensively over the com- pany's territory. In 1926 he was ap- pointed equipment engineer of the central division, with headquarters nu Toronto, and in this capacity he work- ed within the expanding area which became. the western• division, until the time of his death. Mr.- Speare will be remembered for the enterprise and energy he brought to the por- formance of every job. His ingenuity in the practical field, of telephone egnipi'hent, ranging from the earlier. types to the latest' toll and dial sys- tems, became characteristic of his work. His associates will always re- call his ready esif and a keen sense of humour that prompted a fund of anecdote to enliven every conference and gathering of telephone people in which he founds 'himself. Prominent in the Masonic Order, he was a •mem- ber of Toronto "Lodge of Perfection, Rose Croix' Chapter of the Scottish Rite,! and also St. George's -Lodge, London, Ont. He was a member of the Champlain Council, Telephone Pioneers of America, and a member of the Ontario Society of Professtonal Engineers.—(July Blue Bell). Forrest, of Alberni, .B.C., has been visiting her sisters, Mrs, H. Alk- enhead, Brucefield, and Mrs: W. Hen- ry, of the London 'Road, and a bro- ther, rother, H. D. Cameron, Clinton. It is nearly 50 years since Mrs. Forrest left Ontario and during, that time has made many trips back. Mrs. J. Henry of Victoria, has, been a visitor with Mr. and Mrs, . Henry also. The weather was all that could be desir- ed and after a happy afternoon of Visiting and sports a bountiful sup- per was served. Mr. and Mrs. J. Scott and° Mary, of Russeldale, were visitors and also Mr. and Mrs. P. Mc- Martin of Toronto. Friends from Hensall were also present. Friends and acquaintances, of these British Columbia visitorsare glad to welcome them back and hope they may soon return to spend another visit among theta. - Mr. Foster Gibbings,of Kindersley, Sask., who has been spending a short visit with friends in and around. Clin- ton, spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. W. . Henry. They were neighbors in . the West. While here he visited old friends, Mrs. Brock and Mrs. Jamieson, of Brucefield. Hugh Zapfe and Douglas' McBeath spent a week at the Boys' Camp, Goderich, end had a fine holiday. The annual Sunday school and church picnic will be held at Jowett's Grove, Bayfield, on Wednesday after- noon, July 19th. The' lunch is to be, salads, sandwiches and cookies. Dish-' es will be provided. Everybody wel- come. HAY The council' of the Township of Hay met at the townshap hall, Zurich, on Monday, July 3rd, at 8 p.m. for their regular monthly meeting.
