Smith - Regier.—St, James' Church, Seaforth, was" the scene of a pretty wedding on Saturday, • August 21st, when Marie Doreen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Regier, was united in marriage to Lieut. •Cramtaander Nor- man ,Charles Smith. son of Mrs. Heath, of Toronto, and the late Mr. Smith. Rev. Father T. P. Hussey per- formed the ceremony. The altar was beautifully decorated with gladioli and made a pretty setting for the bride, who was given away by her father, and who wore a golen of white brocaded satin with sweetheart neck- line and train. She carried a bouquet of American Beauty roses and wore a string of pearls, 'the gift of the groom. Miss' Ruth Glinske, of De- troit, was bridesmaid and wore pow- der blue, brocaded Zahn, and carried a• bouquet of pink roses. Mr. Robert Heath, of Toronto,. was the grooms- man, and Messrs, Joseph Regier and Jack -Fortune were ushers. Mrs. F: Devereaux played the wedding march and also accompanied Mrs. Leo- For- tune and Mrs. F. S. Sills when they sang "0 Promise Me" and "Ave Marie." The bride's mother was gowned in blue crepe suit and wore a. corsage of red roses, while Mrs. Heath chose a rose suit with black accessories. The wedding breakfast was served at the Commercial Hotel with Mrs. Roy Dungey and Miss Mary Murray in charge. Later M. and Mrs. Smith left on a short trip and on their return will reside in Toronto. OP Barbara Kirkman Auxiliary Meets. —The August meeting •of the Barbara Kirkman Auxiliary of First Presby- terian Church was held on Tuesday evening. Mrs. W. J. Thompson, the president, opened the meeting and conducted the business part. The pro- gram was arranged by the "Elder" group with Mrs. MacTavish in the chair. Mrs. Russell gave the Scrip- ture 'lesson and Mrs.Dorrance the Glad Tidings Prayer. Mrs. James Scott gave a very interesting and comprehensive talk onthe pioneer life of Northern Ontario and the Western Provinces, Thts was accditi- pealed by lantern slidegi. which show- ed The homes and towns of the p10 - veers, the mining districts and agri- cultural areas. The work of the Presbyterian Church in building churches and hospitals for these new countries was shown, as well as pic- tures of ministers, .deaconess an nurses in their rude homes and sparsely settled districts.- It „all brought home very vividly to the aude ence the courage and unselfishness of those engaged in pioneerhlife. Mrs. H. Jack outlined the program for the Presbyterial rally on Septenyber 14th, and urged the members to attend the meeting e of that day., Mrs. Louis Brall-Dies in Detroit.— Mrs. Conrad Eckert received the sad and startling news of the sudden pass - leg of her daughter, Mrs. Louis Breit, nee Elizabeth Eckert, on Saturday, August 21st, following an operation -in Providence Hospital, Detroit. Mrs. Breit was born in McKillop township in 1894. Atter attending public school she completed eher education at St. Joseph's Convent, Toronto, and Clin- ton Busineee College. Mrs. Beall was a successful secretary for Buhi & Sons, Detroit. Married" September 16, 1920, at St. James' Church, Seaforth, to Mr. Louis Brett, she has lived in Detroit eines that time. Besides her husband she is survived y three chil- dren, Mary, Gordon and June, all at home. The funeral was held Wed- nesday, -August 25th, from 'the De Santis Funeral Home to the Guardian .Angel Church, Hayes Ave., Detroit. Interment was - made in Mt, Olivet cemetery. As the casket was earried into the church the ladies of the Workers of Mary, of which society Mrs. Brall was president, formed a guard of honour. Requiem High Mass Was sung by the pastor, Rev. Following the cere- mony a reception was held at the groom's home when Mrs. Fisher re- ceived the guests, wearing a blueen- senable suit and corsage of roses. Luncheon was served, after _which the bride and groom left for their home in Toronto, the bride wearing a blue crepe dress with hat - to match and white accessories.
