Died in Toronto.—Word has been
received here of the death in Toronto
of Mrs. A. W. Morley Campbell. MO

Campbell died at 'the home of her sis-
ter, Mrs. S. Deem, 81 Chudleigh Ave.,
on Thesday. The former Caroline
Jane Shaw, she was the eldest daugh-
ter of the late John Shaw, Seaforth.
Mr. Campbell died some time ago.
The body is resting at the home of
her sister, Mrs. Deetn, where the fun-
eral service will be held on Friday
afternoon at two o'clock. Interment
will be made in Pine Grove cemetery,
Prince Albert.

Death of Charles Workman. The
funeral took place on Tueedit after-
noon last at, Brussels, a Charles
Henry Workman, in. his 59th year,
after an illness of three years. Born
in Bromsgrove, England, he came to
Canada in 1904 and settled in Sea -
forth, where he lived for six and on.e-
half years before going to Brussels.
In 1909 he married Miss Margaret
Connor, of Grey Township. He
leaves his mother in England and
four brothers, George and Bert in
Australia, and , James and Jack 4 in
England, and two sisters, Mrs.-Pram-
ces Holiester and Mrs. Lillwall in
England; also 'his wife and four sons
andtwo daughters: Gordon la the
navy, Harry and Lloyd in the tamp,
and Kenneth in Leamington, Mrs. S.
Dumphy and 'Miss Margaret.

Death of Mrs. Charles Fritz -
One of the oldest. most widely
known and eesteemed residents of
Zurich passed away on Sunday, Aug.
lst, in the person of Mrs. Rebecca
Fritz, beloved Wife of Charles Fritz,
in her 77th year. Mrs. Fritz was a
daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. H.
Fried, of Dashwood, but had been a
resident of Zurich for Many years.
She was a member of the Evangelical
Church, and took a great interest
and active part in every branch of
church work, being a teacher in the
Sunday school, a member of the Lad-
ies' 'Aid 'and a life member of the
Women's Missionary Society. Be-
sides her interest in church work,
Mrs. Fritz was an active worker in
.the Red Cross and her home was al-
ways a centre of community life. Her
genuine worth was recognized by all
and her kindness and sincerity made
aid -retained the friendship and -re-
spect not only of the people of the
village and • district, but many
throughout the county who had met
her in her hospitable home, where
they were always sure of a genuine
welcome. Besides her bereaved hus-
band, she is survived by a family of
three: Pearl, at home; Ward, of
Zurich, and Mrs. H. Cowan, of Exe-
ter. She is also survived by one
brother, Mr. Emmanuel Fried, of
Pinehurst 'Washington all et whom
Sgt. J. Brown, of Port Albert, M.P.O.
visited with S. Sgt. W. C. Bennett
this week. .
Mr. and Mrs. C. Thorne and son,
of St. Catharines, visited Mrs. Hugh
Fulton last week.
Mr. Stewart McCall was
in Hamilton recently.
'Misses Shirley Bennett, Emma San-
derson, Doreen Cautts, Isabel David-
son, Marie Bennett, Mae Jackson, and
Helen and Leona Johnstan' are at
camp near Goderich this week. Mrs.

The regular monthly meeting of the
council of the Township of Hay was
held in the Town Hall, Zurich,on
Monday, August OVnel, with all , the
members present. The Minutes of
the meetings held in July were adopt-
ed as read. The council became or-
ganized as a curt of appeal concern-
ing the Zurich Village Drain and the
Haberer Drain. Appeals re Zurich
Village Drain were disposed of as fol-
lows: Sol Zimmerman, appeal allow-
ed as land owned by him is assessed
to Talbot Drain; Mrs. W. H. Hoffman,
appeal dismissed. ,A. motion was pass-
ed re the Haberer Drain to refer the
report back to the engineer for re-
consideration.
The following resolutions were,
passed: That the 1943 budget for
the Township of Hay be,adopted;
that the* bylaw re Zurich, Village
Drain as amended be read third time
and finally passed; that the report re

Miss 'Margaret Scott, of Ottawa, its
enjoying a couple of weeks' holidays
at the home of her mother, Mrs. Rus-
sell Scott.

Several people of this community
,attended the'Staffa W.I. picnic at the
'Liens Park, Seaforth, en Wednesday
have the sincerest sygapathy of all
in their great bereavement. A pri-
vate funeral was held at the family
home on Tuesday afternoon, follow-
ed by a public service in the Evan-
gelical Church, which was very large-
ly attended, and where her. pastor
paid an eloquent and fitting tribute
to her life and character and the im-
pression for good her' life had made
in' the church and community during
her years of residence in Zurich.

Mr. and Mrs. Archie Parsons and
family spent a day last week with
Mrs. Parson's parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Joseph Linden, of Denfield.
Mrs, A. H. Gackstetter had her
household effects moved from Guelph
to the home of her aunt and uncle,
Mr. and Mrs. William Horney, where
she will make her home while Mr.
'Gackstetter is serving in the army.

The Sunday school held its anima/
picnic at the Lions Olub Park, Sea -
forth, this year. Both, old and young
greatly enjoyed themselves. The chil-
dren entered the games with zest and
the young people found pleasure is
their games and b;11 game, while the
older men played horesioes. To crown
all, there was an exe Rent supper
table prepared by the ia4Les and at
which about 170 sat dowr.

A quiet summer wedding was sol-
emnized at Cromarty Presbyterian
Manse on Tuesday, August 3rd, at 3
o'clock, when Rev: Mr. McWilliam
united in marriage Alethia Isabel, eld-
est daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs.
George Lane, of Massey, Ont., and
Pte. William Colin McKaig, R.C.O.C.,
of London, Ont., younger4 son of Mrs.
Florence McKaig, of Cromarty. The
bride's street -length dress was of
Queen Elizabeth blue, triple sheer,
with blue hat and white aceessories.
She carried a bouquet of pibk
Talis-
man rose e and baby's breath. The
bride was attended by the groom's
sister, 'Mies Christina McKaig, wear-
ing a street -length dress of ashes of
roses crepe with white accessories,
and carrying :a Colonialbouquet of
pink roses and carnations. The
groomsman was Angus 3: lIteliaig,
brother of the groom. Following the
ceremony a 'wedding dinner was serv-
ed at the groom's home with the
immediate relatives present. The din-
ing room was beeomingly decorated
in pink and white and the 'same color
scheme wascarried Mit in the table
.decorations,t the. table being centred
with the bride's cake. The couple
left by motor, fox a trip north. For
travelling the bride &donned a 33RVY
and white, crepe frock with white ac-
cessories.
