Junior Pupils of 5t. Joseph's
Convent Raise $5 At
-Hallowe'en Party.
• The Catholic Women's League held
their monthly meeting, in the vestry
of the Church recently with a large
attendance. The .president, Miss Alice
Daly, was 113. charge. The minutes of
Orel previous meeting • were read by
Mrs. H. Mellen.
Miss Daly'-' gave a very' interesting
report of the Diocesan convention
which, was held in Chatham Octqber
6th to 8th. One of the resolutions of
the Convention was that -we should
pray earnestly for our men and wo-
men on active service and • pray for
victory Yalta peace. Ails& Daly was
appointed. Diocesan Councillor for
Huron.
It was decided to have an Honour
Roll for the men who served it the
last. war 'and for those who are serv-
ing in the present war. Arrange-
ments were made to prepare Christ-
mas boxes for our boys overseas. Mrs.
W. Haft 'and Mrs. H. Mellen were ap-
pointed to call on the sick during the
month of November.
Mrs. Charles Stewart kindly offer-
ed her home to the enerdbers of the
League for a bridge party which is
to be held Tuesday evening. Miss
Redmond very generously: donated a
top for a quilt. ,The meeting closed
with prayer.
With all ;the fun of the traditional
Hallowe'en festivities, the senior
nmaie pupils of St. Joseph's Convent
held their yearly party on Saturday,
Oct. 31st, in St. James' Hall, with
this exception—that our brave.. boys •
overseas came first. Each child gen-
erously deposited a penny in: the box
before 'partaking of any of the geed-
les:set up ie real Hallowe'en fashion,
or efftering into any of 'the gimes or
contests.
Prizes were awarded to the follow-
ing for costumes: Dutch girls, 'aven-
ge Bolton and Merilyn Chesney; gypsy

Mrs. Oliver W. Rhymes returned
home this veeek after attending the
wartime conference of the linemen's
Hospital Aids Association. Mrs. Rhy-
nal was re -ejected to the ,presidency,
having presided many years over this
association. Mrs. 'Rhymes is also tbe
first vice-presideet of the Onterib Hos-
pital Association, Chairmen of the Do-
minion Committee in the Canadian
Hospital Council, a member of the
America Hospital Association and the
Canadian Authors Association: All
the literatare sent out by' the Volda-
tary Hospital Aids ,is from the pen of
Mrs. Rhynas.
