The first prize was won by Mrs. Homer Mellen; 2nd prize by Mrs. T. Swan' Smith, and consolation, Miss Cecelia Horan. The travelling prize, so kindly donated by Mrs. T. Swan Smith, was won by Miss Mabel Turn- bull. Egmondville W. M. S. Meets.—The Egmondville W.M.S. held their regu- lar meeting in the vestry of the church bn Thursday, Sept. 3rd, with 'Mrs. Richardson in the chair. The meeting opened by use of Hymn 374' and prayer .by Mrs. Allan. .Mrs. Wan son acted as secretary owing to Mrs. Nott's absence. The offering was re- ceived and Mrs. Keyes ably conduct- ed the worship service from the Mis- sionary Monthly and Hymn 330 . was sung. Meets.— The opening meeting of the fall sea- son of the Young People of First Pres- byterian Church was an interesting one on Tuesday evening. Mr. Robert W. McMillan, the president, was in the ehair. Miss M. P. Patterson read the 12th chapter of 'Romans for the Scripture lesson and Miss Edith Mc- Millan led in prayer. A pleasing fea- ture of the program was two soles sung by Miss Taylor, who is onthe staff of Scott Memorial Hospital. Miss Rosamond Appleby gas aninteresting paper on "Prayer" and the meeting closed with prayer by Rev. Hugh Jack and "God Save the King." The Late Daniel Hartleib.—Daniel Hartleib, of. Dashwood, retired me- chanic; died in Scott Memorial Hos- pital, Seaforth', on Wednesday, in his 63rd year. He was well known in the district. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Christina Hartleib; three daugh- ters, Mrs. George Moulton, Belmont; Mrs. E. J. Grisbrook. son of. William Henry Gris'brook and the late Mrs. Johanna Grisbrook; formerly of Egmondville. Pink glad- ioli decorated the altar and the cere- mony was- performed by Rev. Father T. J. Manley. Mrs. Latremouille was at the organ and. Mrs. Martin was the soloist. The bride, given in marriage by her brother; Charles Cowan, wore a gown in Arcady blue. Her head- dress was a coronet of flowers tinted to match her dress, with a shoulder. veil of matching net, and she car- ried a cascade, of pink gladioli petals. Mrs. Leota Iiinde, who was her sis- ter's only attendant, wore a dress of sheer in blossom pink. She wore a matching flowered headdress and car- ried a fan of Gladioli. John Coveart attended the groom as best man, The reception was held at the King Ed- ward 'Hotel. Mrs. .Cowan; received wearing a printed navy ensemble and a corsage of American Beauty roses. Hugh Jack, Minister. , The Late. Mrs. Alex McMichael.— "'Pile death of Mrs. Alexander Mc- Michael occurred in Scott Memorial Hospital on Tuesday, Sept. 8th, after an illness of two months. She was the eldest daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. James Love, who were pio- neer settlers of Usborne Townhill, and was born on the Thames Road, near Exeter, in 1857, but ,when a young girl moved with her parents to McKillop. She was married in Lon- desboro 'In 1890 to Alexander Mc- Michael, who predeceased her nine years ago. She is survived by three children, Mrs. George Parry (Annie), of Toronto; Percy, of Clinton, and Jean, at home. She Is also survived by six grandchildren, Alex, Barbara,, Ross. and Pte. Chas.:McMiehael, Mrs. Rdbt. Green and Mrs. Regan ld ,Clif- ford, and three great gi'aildthildren, all of Clinton. There are also three sisters, Mrs. I. Snyder, Mrs. 11'.
