Bowlers Win At Goderich. — On
Thursday evening last four rinks of
bowlers werei in Goderich and the
following rink brought home first
prize: W. G. Willis, B. V. . Christie
and Chad Glew, which was six pairs
of sox for each player. The other
rinks were as follows: John Hoth-
am, Fred Johnson and Ross J. Sproat;
M. A. Reid, H. J. Mellen and H. E.
Smith; E. H. Close, G. C. Brightrall

Lady Golfer's Bridge.—The ladies of
the Seaforth Golf and Country Club
held a bridge at the club house on
Thursday afternoon last, Sept. 3rd,
when there was a large attendance.
The first prize was won by Mrs.
Homer Mellen; 2nd prize by Mrs. T.
Swan' Smith, and consolation, Miss
Cecelia Horan. The travelling prize,
so kindly donated by Mrs. T. Swan
Smith, was won by Miss Mabel Turn-
bull.
Egmondville W. M. S. Meets.—The
Egmondville W.M.S. held their regu-
lar meeting in the vestry of the
church bn Thursday, Sept. 3rd, with
'Mrs. Richardson in the chair. The
meeting opened by use of Hymn 374'
and prayer .by Mrs. Allan. .Mrs. Wan
son acted as secretary owing to Mrs.
Nott's absence. The offering was re-
ceived and Mrs. Keyes ably conduct-
ed the worship service from the Mis-
sionary Monthly and Hymn 330 . was
sung. Mrs. McQuarrie reported nine
visits being made to sick or shut-ins.
The meeting closed by singing verses
1, 3 and 4 of Hymn 378 and prayer by
Mrs. Richardson.

George Roland Troutbeck, son of Mrs.
John Troutbeck, of Auckland, New
Zealand. The bride's uncle, Rev. H.
E. Pelletier,' of Coldwater, officiated,
and Mr. S. Thomas was at the organ.
The bride, given in marriage by her
father, wore a turquoise velvet gown
with matching hat and veil, and car-
ried a nosegay of turquoise sweet
Peas,bouvardia and token roses. Miss
Elizabeth Southgate, maid of honor,
wore fuchsia velvet and carried glad-
ioli, delphinums and Johanna Hill
roses. Sgt. -Pilot Bill Fillmore, of To-
ronto, was groomsman, and the ush-
ers were Sgt. W. E. Southgate, Jr.,
London, and MacLeod. Soutligate, of
Kitchener. After a small reception
at the . Granite Club, the bridal `cou-
ple left for Montreal, the bride travel-
ling in a biege, flannel suit with brown
accessories.
First Presbyterian Y. P. S. Meets.—
The opening meeting of the fall sea-
son of the Young People of First Pres-
byterian Church was an interesting
one on Tuesday evening. Mr. Robert
W. McMillan, the president, was in
the ehair. Miss M. P. Patterson read
the 12th chapter of 'Romans for the
Scripture lesson and Miss Edith Mc-
Millan led in prayer. A pleasing fea-
ture of the program was two soles
sung by Miss Taylor, who is onthe
staff of Scott Memorial Hospital. Miss
Rosamond Appleby gas aninteresting
paper on "Prayer" and the meeting
closed with prayer by Rev. Hugh Jack
and "God Save the King."
The Late Daniel Hartleib.—Daniel
Hartleib, of. Dashwood, retired me-
chanic; died in Scott Memorial Hos-
pital, Seaforth', on Wednesday, in his
63rd year. He was well known in the
district. Surviving are his widow,
Mrs. Christina Hartleib; three daugh-
ters, Mrs. George Moulton, Belmont;
Mrs. E. J. Dundas, Waterloo; Mrs. R:
A. ,Mercer, St. Thomas•; one son,
Harry, London; four sisters, Lavada,
Dashwood; Mrs. D..,Meerburg, Port
Frank; Mrs. William Hey, Hay town-
ship, and Mrs. James Smith, Wind-.

Harry Hoffman funeral home, Dash-
wood, where the funeral will be held

formerly of Egmondville. Pink glad-
ioli decorated the altar and the cere-
mony was- performed by Rev. Father
T. J. Manley. Mrs. Latremouille was
at the organ and. Mrs. Martin was the
soloist. The bride, given in marriage
by her brother; Charles Cowan, wore
a gown in Arcady blue. Her head-
dress was a coronet of flowers tinted
to match her dress, with a shoulder.

The Late. Mrs. Alex McMichael.—
"'Pile death of Mrs. Alexander Mc-
Michael occurred in Scott Memorial
Hospital on Tuesday, Sept. 8th, after
an illness of two months. She was
the eldest daughter of the late Mr.
and Mrs. James Love, who were pio-
neer settlers of Usborne Townhill,
and was born on the Thames Road,
near Exeter, in 1857, but ,when a
young girl moved with her parents to
McKillop. She was married in Lon-
desboro 'In 1890 to Alexander Mc-
Michael, who predeceased her nine
years ago. She is survived by three
children, Mrs. George Parry (Annie),
of Toronto; Percy, of Clinton, and
Jean, at home. She Is also survived
by six grandchildren, Alex, Barbara,,
Ross. and Pte. Chas.:McMiehael, Mrs.
Rdbt. Green and Mrs. Regan ld ,Clif-
ford, and three great gi'aildthildren,
all of Clinton. There are also three
sisters, Mrs. I. Snyder, Mrs. 11'. Huff,

The W.A. and W.M.S. met at the
home of 'Mrs. Wm. Somerville on
Wednesday, .Sept. 2. 'Mrs. Toll pre-
sided. Hymn 380, "Where Cross the
Crowded Ways of 'Life," was sung, af-
ter which Mrs. Blanchard led in pray-
er. ' The roll' call was answered by a
verse on "Trust." The meeting was
then opened for business. The date
of the October meeting was changed
to October 14. Mrs. Wm. Church and
Mrs. A. Somerville were appointed as
delegates to the Presbyterial at
Brucefield. After the business the
meeting was turned over to Circle No.
4 with Mrs. Church in charge. Hymn
394, "Happy the Home When God is
There," was sung, after which the
Lord's. Prayer was repeated in unison.
The Scripture taken from St. Matthew
chapter 5, verses 13-16, and chapter
13, verses 31-33, was read by Mrs.
Hogg. Mrs. Garnham led in prayer,
and Hymn 376, "Blest Be the Tie that
Binds" was sung, following. which
Mrs. Church gave a reading. The new
study book, "The Church in Our Com-
munity and the Church in the City
Streets," was introduced by Mrs. Toll.
Hymn 379, "Jesus, Master Whose I
Am," was sung and the meeting clos-
ed by singing the National Anthem.
The Red Cross meeting will be held
in the church Tuesday afternoon,
Sept. 15th, at two o'clock. As we
have a few patches left over from the
last pieced crazy quilt we made, if
any one has any patches to spare we

week's leave at the home of his par-

reporting toe No. 6 I-T.S., Toronto.

school on Tuesday and seemed quite
anxious after the long holiday.'Three
new pupils started at Winthrop, Ron-
nie Davidson, Ronnie Trewartha and
Mae Montgomery.
Ross Montgomery, who received a
badly cut foot which required four
stitches to close the `wound, will not
be able to attend school for another
week at least.
Mr. Haase has finished drilling a
well on his premises and is busy
drilling a well for Mr. John H. Storey.
Mrs. Harold Bolger and baby daugh-
ter are spending a few days with Mr.
and Mrs. Thomas Pryce.
