Greer - Bonthrotl - The home of Mr, and Mrs. Jame, Bonthron, 'Hensall, was •the scene of a charming wedding at high noon on Saturday, Oct. 4tb, when their only daughter, Jean 'Carolyn, became the bride of MacAllister Burwell Greer, of London. The bride, given in mar- riage by her father, was lovely in a floor -length gown of white sheer over taffeta with fieg�er-tip veil, and car- ried a beautiful—bouquet of Talisman roses. ,She was attended , by Miss Betty Claire Plaggemeyer, of Detroit, niece of the groom, who wore a white net floor -length skirt with Paddy on July 5, 1861,,, in the pioneer days, and was the third son of the late George Beatty and Jane Reid. De- ceased took an active part in the af- fairs of the township and was at one time a' member of ' the council, and "later filled the office of treasurer for several years. When she retired to private. life in 1937 he was one of the firm of Beatty Bros., who con- ducted a general store in Varna far 40 years, and drove a wagon on •the road's' for 22 years when he made and held the confidence and friendship of the public, /who paid loyal tribute at his bedside during the past year and at his bier, Beatty Bros. were noted breeders of pure bred Scotch Short- horn' cattle for years and in dealing with their fellowmen had few, in any, equals. His 'brother, John, predeceas- ed him in 1933. For over 50 years the late George Beatty was choir 'lead- er in St. John's Church, of which he was a member, but being in failing e health for some 'time was unable tot o attend service. Deceased was of a i kind disposition, a good• neighbor and f counsellor, and will 'be missed by a I e large circle of friends and acquaint-. antes. There are few of his 'boyhood j ap days to :remember him. Mr. Beatty; was unmarried and was predeceased by four 'brothers, Lancelot,. John, Rob- ert and William, and one sister, Mrs. Weekes (Rachel), but he is surviv- ed by one sister, Mrs. W. O. Woods, of Listowel. A private funeral was held fro mhis late residehce on Sun- day, Sept. 28th. 'The pallbearers were Messrs, Adam Stewart, Eddie Glen;' Carl Deihl, Alex McConnell, ,f. T.
