charge of proceedings were Mr. Ern-
est Allen, of Cromarty, president;
Thomas Scott, of Cromarty, secre-
tary, assisted by James Francis, of
Tavistock, and Gordon Scott, Crom-
arty. A ball game was featured. One
of the special items of note was the
doube presentations to Mr. and Mrs.,
Edgar Allen, of Cromarty, in, honor
of their fortieth wedding annivers-
ary, and to' Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Mc-'
Lachlan, also of Cromarty, for their
thirtieth anniversary, each couple re-
ceiving a silver tea service, James
Scott, of Cromarty, doing the hon-
ors.
Picnic At Bayfield
The annual reunion of the Thom-
son clan was held at' Bayfield with
sixty members of the clansmen pres-
ent from Hensall, Auburn, Clinton,
Nobel, Dublin, Mitchell, Brucefield
and Kippen. The weather was irsieal
and the event much. enjoyed. Sports,
consisting of races, ball games, re-
lay races and contests directed by
Miss Mabel Workman, ' of Hensall,
and Mr, Samuel Phomson, of Kippen,
were featured. At the supper hour
a sing -song was enjoyed and election
of officers with the following appoint-
ed to form the 1942 slate: President,
Mrs. Albert Alexander, Kippen; sec-
retary -treasurer, Mrs. Elgin Thom-
son, Kippen; sports conveners, Mr.
Jack Pepper, Kippen; Herb Britton,
Dublin; lunch, Mrs. S. Thomson, Kip-
pen; Mrs. W. F. Alexander, Hensall.
The Thomsons are descendants of
the late Robert and Samuel Thomson, '
well-known pioneer residents of this
district. The 1942 reunion will be, °
held at the home of Mr. Samuel War-
ren, Highway No. 4, near Kippen. 1
The event' was much enjoyed as was:

Miss Martha Hunter, who has been
poorly for some time, is at present a
patient at Mrs. Saundercock's nurs-
ing home. Her many friends trust
she will soon be, restored to health.

week visiting with Miss Mary Ann
Hoggarth and relatives and friends in

Complimenting Miss Mildred rol-
lick, R.N., of London, graduate of
Victoria Hospital, and da,ugthter of

sall, whose approaching marriage to
Mr. David Kyle, son of Chief of Po-
lice Thomas Kyle and Mrs. Kyle, of
'Hensall, will be of wide interest,
Miss Grace Graham, R.N., was ,hos-
tess at her home in London in, her
honor, together' with a number of
graduate nurses who presented the
popular bride -elect with an end' table,
Miss Graham doing the +honors- The
evening was delightfully spent in a
social time, after which refreshments
were served. ,
Marks 88th Birthday
Mrs. Youngblutt, well known in
Hensall and district, and a former
Hensall resident, celebrated her 88th
birthday Friday, July 18th, at her
home in Waterloo. For a number of
years Mrs. Youngblutt resided in
•r, Hensall, where her late husband was
ra engaged in the boot and shoe busi-
ness, late'' moving to Waterloo where
c- they took up residence. The family
alio consists of three sons, Andrew, Van-
rs couver; William, of the West, and
Wesley, Hamilton; and three daugh-
he ters, Mrs. Hall, McKee Rocks, Pan
L. Mrs. Norman Peppier, Hanover, and
Mrs. James W. Bonthron; Hensall.
Mrs. Yqungbiutt, who is a native of
Auburn, is very •smart for one so ad-
vanced in years, takes a keen inter-
est in the current events of the day,
lives alone, and attends to her own
household duties herself from choice.
She received many lovely .gifts dur-
ing the day and congratulatory mes-

a Red Cross softball game, featuring
Squire 'Alder's Nortlhsiders and Mid-

for all. The teams consist of some
of the former well-known players, in-
cluding Stan Tudor, Reeve Shaddick,
Councillor Jim Parkins, Geo, Hess,
Dr. A. R. Campbell, Ted Oliver and
Police Chief Kyle. There will be a
lucky draw for a dollar's worth of
War Savings Stamps during the

a most delightful holiday, spending
the time on the St. Lawrence and the
Thousand Islands. They report a
most marvellous trip.

A cbarraing summer wedding of
wide interest took place in tbe Mun-
son United Ohurch when Ethel Mar-
garet, younger daughter of Mrs. E, A.
Doan and the late Mr. Doan, of Mor-
rin, Alberta, became the bride or Mr.
Donald William Sharpe, son of Mr.
and Mrs. W. R. Sharpe, of Munson;
