in Brussels cemetery, the pallbearers
being Messrs. William+ Sinclair, Jas,

Walker, Sam Walker, Timmins,, and
James Brydone, Buffalo. Among those
from a distance -who attended the fun-
eral were: Mr. and Mrs. T. Walker,
Brussels; Mrs. W. O. Brydone, Miss
Grace Walker, Buffalo; Miss 'Mary
Walker, Ottawa, and Mrs. Grace Cam-
eron, Toronto.
Northside W. M. S. Meets. - The
Easter meeting of the W.M.S. of
`Nortbside ,United 'Church was held
'r hurs•day, April 10th. The meeting
opened by the use . of the hymn,
"Christ the Lord is Risen Today,"
Mrs. Lawson leading in prayer. Mrs.
Porteous read th,e minutes of the pre-
vious meeting which were seconded
by Mrs. Finlayson. Mrs. Lawson an-
nounced that the society along with
the Mae Lane would hold the Easter
bhankoffering on the evening of April
21st, and that the Rex: Mr. Roulston,
missionary on furlough from. China,
would be the guest speaker. The roll
call was then taken after which Mrs,
Lawson gave a helpful little talk on
Easter thoughts. Miss A. Ferguson
gave the treasurer's report and in the
absence of Mrs. Archibald also the
Christian Stewardship report. Mrs.
Kaine. gave a temperance reading and
Mrs. Cuthill the report of the supply
secretary. Twenty-five dollars h -ad
been made by Circle 3. Circle 4 then
took charge of the devotional period

"I Dear Thy Gentle Void' was then
sung; followed by the Lor'd's Prayer
in unison. Mise Maude Ferguson, be-
fore reading the Scripture lesson
which was the 17th chapter of John,
gave a review of our Lord during
passion week, after which Miss Wal-
lace led, in prayer and the collection
was then received by Miss Bristow,
Miss Wallace then introduced the
study of Oliver. Jackson, missionary
of Newfoundland, known as the
Apostle of the Outposts. His plea for
young people was taken by Mrs. Law-
son and Mrs. Pollard gave a descrip-
tion of Newfoundland where he lab-
ored 25 years. This was followed by
a paper by Mrs-. Porteous telling of
the poverty and hardship of the peo-
ple. The meeting closed with the
singing of "Jesus, Keep Me Near the
Cross," followed by the benediction
by Miss Wallace. -. .

Diphtheria was once one of the most rampant
diseases in Canada. Hundreds of cases and
scores of deaths , were reported every year.
Within the past few years; through the discov-

Northside W. M. S. Meets. - The
Easter meeting of the W.M.S. of
`Nortbside ,United 'Church was held
'r hurs•day, April 10th. The meeting
opened by the use . of the hymn,
"Christ the Lord is Risen Today,"
Mrs. Lawson leading in prayer. Mrs.
Porteous read th,e minutes of the pre-
vious meeting which were seconded
by Mrs. Finlayson. Mrs. Lawson an-
nounced that the society along with
the Mae Lane would hold the Easter
bhankoffering on the evening of April
21st, and that the Rex: Mr. Roulston,
missionary on furlough from. China,
would be the guest speaker. The roll
call was then taken after which Mrs,
Lawson gave a helpful little talk on
Easter thoughts. Miss A. Ferguson
gave the treasurer's report and in the
absence of Mrs. Archibald also the
Christian Stewardship report. Mrs.
Kaine. gave a temperance reading and
Mrs. Cuthill the report of the supply
secretary. Twenty-five dollars h -ad
been made by Circle 3. Circle 4 then
took charge of the devotional period

sung; followed by the Lor'd's Prayer
in unison. Mise Maude Ferguson, be-
fore reading the Scripture lesson
which was the 17th chapter of John,
gave a review of our Lord during
passion week, after which Miss Wal-
lace led, in prayer and the collection
was then received by Miss Bristow,
Miss Wallace then introduced the
study of Oliver. Jackson, missionary
of Newfoundland, known as the
Apostle of the Outposts. His plea for
young people was taken by Mrs. Law-
son and Mrs. Pollard gave a descrip-
tion of Newfoundland where he lab-
ored 25 years. This was followed by
a paper by Mrs-. Porteous telling of
the poverty and hardship of the peo-
ple. The meeting closed with the
singing of "Jesus, Keep Me Near the
Cross," followed by the benediction
by Miss Wallace. -. .

Diphtheria was once one of the most rampant
diseases in Canada. Hundreds of cases and
scores of deaths , were reported every year.
Within the past few years; through the discov-
ery of Toxoid, ways have been found to reduce
the menace or Diphtheria. This week many
Ontario communities are observing' Toxoid
Week when special efforts are being made to in-
crease the use 'of Toxoid among -children. Pox-
oid will prevent Diphtheria. For further details+
