Valentine Euchre is Successful,—
C The Valentine euchre held in the
parish hall, sponsored by the Girls'
W.A. of St. ThomasChurch, was well
attended, Miss Evelyn Watson won
first prize for the 'ladies and Mrs.
Zimmerman won the lone hands. The
consolation prize. was won by Mrs. G.
Reeves. The first prize for the • men
was won. by, Mr. J. Earle and Mr. J.

" Music Pupils Entertain.—The 'Jun-
ior music mipils of St. Joseph's Con-
vent entertained at a Valentine party
on Friday, Feb. 14th, at the Convent.
Joanne McMillan won the first ,prize
for Miss St. Valentine costume, with
Mary Margaret Cleary second. Louise
Case and Jean McMaster held the
lucky door tickets. A buffet Reach
was served. The table, gayly decor-
-ated in red acrd White, was soon re-
lieved of its sandwiches, cakes, can-
dy, etc. Dianne Mellen presided at
the cocoa table. .After an inepromptu
program ibe• party closed, with sing-
ing "Carry On, Canada" and "God
Save the "King."

was groomsman. A reception was
held at the home of the bridegroom's
sister, MTS. F. B. Clarke,, Playter Boul-
evard, after which: the bride and
briegroom left on a short honeymoon
to Montreal.
EgmondyiTle Y. P. Meets. — The
,basement, of Egmondville Church was
nicely decorated with Valentines for
the Valentine party ()a Monday eve -
cling. The meeting opened with a
sing -song led by Anna Watson and
Eleanor Hudson. Rev. A. Jir. Gard-
iner led in prayer, Mrs. A. W. Gard-
iner told a story on "The Ten Lep-
ers." Mrs. Nott gave an exercise in
dumb -belle with music by Anna Wat-
son. A duet, "Rueben. Rueben," by
Anna Watson and. Eleanor Hudson
was much enjoyed. Rev. Gardiner
gave a reading on "Papa and the
Boy." Mr. Clarence Trott spoke on
"'Education of Today and Activity in
the Schools." Be also gave a demon-
etration ofe the, things made at the
Egenondville school. Mr. Gardiner
told a story on St. Valentine's, Day.
Lunch Was served, and an 'interesting
meeting was brought to a, close.
Dies in Kansas.—Daniel Yager, son
of Amos and Angeline Wordel Yager,
was born in Strathroy, Canada, Nov,
24, 1849, and. passed away 'at his
home in. Atwood, Kansas, February 2,
1941, at the age of 91 years, 2 months
and 8 days. He served, for five years
as blacksmith's apprentice in London,
Canada, and then came in the early
seventies to Fairbury, Nebraska. He
was united in martgage with Mary
Ana Moatgomery, February 1, 1888.
af's wife was born near Seaforth and
lived here for a number of years. To
this union was born one son, Joseph,.
t'ho resides at Atwood. A few -years
oiler their marriage the family mov-
en to Olympia. Washington, but re-
turned to Herndon, Kansas, in 1902,
w bere he operated a blacksmith, shop.
In 1906 he was elected to the office
of registrar of deeds and moved to
Atwood. Mrs, Yager preceded him in
death February 9, 1924.

Death of Mrs. Isaac Moore. — The
death took place of Elizabeth Patrick,
wife of Mr. Isaac Moore, of Egmon,d2
ville,, on TuesdaY, Feb. 18th, at the
home of her son, Mr. Davis Moore, in
Toronto. Mrs:' Moore had undergone
an operation in Toronto in December
aed had been confined to bed ever
since. Mr. and Mrs. Moore, lived in
Tuckersmith for m.any years where
they were highly esteemed residents,
and many friends will regret to learn
of her passing. °They came to live in
Egniondville in 19377 She is surviv-
ed by four sons: Harvey, of Tucker -
smith; Andrew. W., of Egmoadville;
Robert J., of Hen -eel', and Davis, of
Toronto, and one daughter, Miss ,.0 -
ole Moore, of eXgmondville. Mrs.
Robert Lavery, of Staffa, is a sister.,
tied arfeesrs. William Patrick of Staffa
and Montgothery Patrick., of Tucker-
smith:are brothers. The funeral will
take place from Egmendville Church
on Friday, Fe -b. 21st, at 2.30 p.m., to
Staffa cemetery.

The regular meeting of the W.M.S.
was held in the school room on Thurs-
day, Feb. 14th, with Mrs. Wm. Brit-
ton, president, in the eltair. The min-
utes were read and adopted. .The
theme of the meeting was "Christian
Living." Mrs. B. BeStephenson read
a leaflet on "Christian Living," and
Mrs. John Nottingham gave the ,story
from the study book and was accom-
panied by Mrs. Earl Lawson; Mrs. B.
Snell and Mrs. G. Addison. The col-
lection was taken, and Mrs. Britton
closed the meeting with prayer.
The Live Wire . Class of Constanee
United Church held a crokinole party
in tho schoolroom on Friday last.

The many friends of Mrs. John
Worsel (nee Ina. Fowiie) were shock-
0to hear of, her death in Regina,
Sask., last week. Deceased had un-
derwent an operation which caused
her passing away. The funeral took
place at Regina last week. She is
survived by her husband, and two
sons, also two sisters, Frances and
Ethel, of this village, also two bro-
thers, Laurie 'and Fred, of London.
The husband and family, her sisters
and brothers have the sincere sym-
pathy of this community in their be-
reavement.
The members of L.Q.L. No. 24, their
wives and sweethearts, spent a social
evening in their hall on Friday last.
After spending an hour at progres-
sive euchre, an interesting debate
took place, "Resolved that the tractor
is more use to the farmer than. the
horse." Both sides took their parts
well, the judges deciding in favor of
the horse. Following this a good sup-
per was enjoyed by all in attendance.

afternoon to resume his duties in

valescing in Scott Memorial Hospital,

The Women/s Missionary Society of

their meeting on 'Wednesday after-
noon in the church parlors at the us-
us.al hour, with the president, Miss I
Bowey, in the chair. Mrs. Horton
gave the Temperance paper, -Mrs, H.
Dalrymple taking charge of the meet-
ing. The Bible study was taken. by
MPS. R. Allaa, Mrs. C. Haugh, Mrs.
H. Aikenhead and Mrs. R. Scott, af-
ter' which Mrs. Dalrynaple led in
prayer. The topic far the meeting
was on Korea, taken by Mrs. R. Scott,
'IYirs. IT.. Allan and Mrs. Haugh,. The
meeting closed by alt repeating the
Mizpali benediction.'
