Keith - Laidlaw.—Mis•s'Mary Ellen
Laidlaw, daughter of Mrs. Mary H.
Laidlaw and the late David Laidlaw,
Wolseley, Sask., became the bride of
George Keith, of Lashburn, in a cere-
mony performed in First Presbyter
tan `Church Manse, Regina, on Wed-
nesday, July 24th, at five o'clock. Rey.
Sant Farley officiated and the regis-
ter was signed by Miss Agnes Laid-
law,'R.N., of S'hannavon, sister of the
bride, and by "Mrs. Farley. For her
wedding the bride chose a heaven
blue triple sheer gown and white
model hat. featuring �'high cuff
caught• back with gardegia. Her ac-
cessories were white. The wedding
dinner was served at the Drake Ho-
tel and after a .short honeymoon in
Regina and Wolseley Mr. and Mrs.
Keith will make their home at Lash-
l�urn, Sask. Miss Laidlaw is' $ niece
of Mr. Robert McGonigle, SSaforth.

Death of Miss Ethel Wankel.—Word
was received here this week of the
death -of Miss Ethel Wankel, on Aug-
ust 13th, daughter of the late, Mr.
and Mrs. August Wankel, of, Har:pur-
hey. Miss Wankel was taken ill
some two years ago in Long Beach,
Califormira, where she followecl...her
training as a registered' nurse, and
was later taken to. Regina where she
has since been living. She' was born
near Grafton, North Dakota, and came
with her parents to Tuckersmith
about 40 years ago. She is survived
by five sisters: Mrs. James G. Carno-
chan, Tuckersmith; Mrs. '3. W. Jeffer-
son, Regina;Mrs. John Baker, Dur-
ham; Miss Lillian Wankel, .Toronto;
Miss Irene Wankel, Hyde Park, and
three brothers, Manley Wankel, Lore-
burn, •Sash.; William Wankel, Tre-
garva, Sask:, and' Greely. Wankel, of
Hyde Park. Interment was' made in
Reg:r:a on August 15th.
Northside W. M. S. Meets. — The
Women's Missionary, Auxiliary of
Northside United Church held their
regular, meeting on Thursday, when
Mrs. R. Lawson was in the chair. The
meeting opened by singing ' the ''hymn,
How Firm a Foundation," and

and it was decided to hold it. some
time in September. It was moved by
Mrs. Archibald. seconded by Miss
Ferguson.. that the following commit-
tee, airs, Cuthill, Mrs. Harburn, Mrs,
Mclntosh.and Mrs. Lawson, see about
a' speaker for that meeting.: Mrs.
Glees, as leader of Circle No. 2, had
charge of , the program. The theme
for the month was "The Use of Our
Time' and 'Talents." Short prayers
tS'ere given -by Mrs. Consitt, Mrs.'
Reid, Mrs. Barber and Mrs. Hudson,
and Miss Robb gave the Bible read-
ing. , Mrs. Archibald had charge of
the stewardship prayer, Miss Irene
Workman favored with a' solo, "My
Task,"" accompanied on the piano by
Mrs. H. V. Workman. A basket of
flowers were placed by Mrs. Consitt
in memory of Mrs. W. A. Crich, who
was a valued member of Circle. No.
2. The meeting closed with the
hymn, "Take Time To Be Holy," 'fol-
lowed by the benediction.
Death of Mrs. Joseph P. Carlin.—
On' Sunday, August' 11t:h', Ahura Mc-
Guire, beloved wife of Joseph P. Car-
lin, died in Scott Memorial Hospital,
Seafortb. Although she had been in
poor, health since - Christmas, she was
thought to be improving when sud-
denly on Friday she was taken to
the hospital where ad operation for
appendicitis, from . which she never
regained consciousness, was perform-
ed. Mrs., Carlin was born fifty-six
years ago n Goderich Township, near
Bayfield; where she lived until her
marriage sixteen years ago. She had
a wide circle of friends and w'as a
great favorite among young people.
Everyone who knew her was im-
pressed by her kindly manner and
sweet disposition. Left to mourn her
loss are her husband, three sisters,
Mrs. Tom Lane, 'Seaforth; Mrs. 'John
Re'ehil, Lond'on; Mrs, 'Bernard Clark,
St. Thomas, and two brot'her's, John
and William McGuire, • of Goderich
township. Her parents and a sister,
(Mare, . predeceased' her. The funeral
'teas held an Tuesday, August lath,
from her home on 'the Huron Road
to St. Colum'ban Church, where Re-
quiem. High Mass was' celebrated by
Rev. Father O'Orowski,, Father Hus-
sey and Father Macdonald were pres-
ent in the sanctuary. During: tth•e of-

met en Wednesday afternoon at the
home of Mrs. William Alexander with
a good attendance. The meeting op-
ened with the call to worship by
Mrs, James Finlayson, who presided.
Hymn 500 was sung and Mrys. Fin-
layson led in prayer. Mrs. Monteith
read the Scripture, after which Mrs.
John Cooper gave the topic, which
was very interesting and instructive.
Hymn 249 was then sung 'and the
meeting closed by repeating the.
Lord's Prayer in unison. A dainty
lunch was served on the shady lawn
by Circle No. 1.
