Death of Mrs. J. R. Habkirk.— Death came very suddenly to`a much respected and highly esteemed reel - dent of S-eaforth in the person of Jane'Bell, widow of the late John R. Habk4rk, on Wedoseaday, July 3rd. Mrs. Habkirk had been a sufferer of rheumatism for nearly three years, but a week ago took a heart attack from which she did - slot rally. She Was born in Tuckerstmith, south of Heneali, 78 years age and was mar- ried to Mr. Habkirk 54 years ago, who passed away in 1925. She is survived by one son, Arnold, of Lis - bowel, and two dau=ghters, Mre. Jes- sie Ellett, of Seaforbh, and Mrs. Mil- ton Chesney, of Toronto; also one sister, Mrs. Alf. Taylor, of Herman,.. Mr. and Mrs, Habkirk moved from Hensall to Seaforth in 1910 and she has lived here ever Since. Mrs', Habkirk was a member of First Presbyterian Church and was known as a very kind hearted woman, whose thougihts were alwaya for her home and fam- ily. Death -Of Mrs. Samuel Jeffrey. -The death took place of a highly respect- ed resident of • S•eaforth on Wednes- day afternoon in the person of Sarah Currie, wife of Samnel Jeffery Mrs. Jeffery, who was the daughter of the late Mr. and. Mies. John Currie,, of Parkhill, was "twice .married, first to Thomas Pullman in; 1900, and with whom she lived iar Chis•elhurst before coming to Seaforth. Mr. Pullman died in 1920, and in 1932 was married to Mr. Jeffery. Mrs. Jeffery was born in. 1870. Mr. Jeffrey survives, to- gether with two sons, John A. Pull- man and Mr. Sydney Pullman, of Seaforth. Two sisters, Mrh. R. Craw- ford, of A•rkona,` and Mrs. Robert Lumby, of Detroit, are the. surviving members of tihe Currie family : of twelve sisters and one brother. A private funeral will take place from h•er late residence on Friday, July 5, at 2 p.m. Rev. Hugh Jack will offici- ate and, internment it*iil be made in Maitlandbank cemetery. OFFICERS: 11,100. Mr. Dexereaux was a son of the late John Devereaux and was born on the Dev- ereaux ho.mresrtead on the Huron High- way, near Seafortli, 81'• years ago, and Chad spent all this life in this district. Many yearsago he purchased the farm- a mile and a quarter east of Seaforth, where he restided',until six years ago, when he .retired and came to Seaforth to reside. Mr. Devereaux was a member of St. James' Catholic Church and closely identified with church work. He was a member of the Holy 'Name Society and League of the Sacred Heart and for several years was a member of the Separate School" Board. Forty -ane years ago Mr. Devereaux was united in mar- riage to Miss Elizabeth Downey, of St: ,Columban, who -survives ham. He is also survived by two brothers and one sister, Mrs. John McDonald, • of Riverside, and Messrs. Robert ' and lames Devereaux, ,of Sear -bah. The funeral was held, Wednesday moaning from ,hie late home to St. James' Church, where a requiem masts was celebrated by Rev. T. P. Huseey. Rev. W. T. Moran, of Ridgetc wn, was present in the sanctuary and deliv- ered 'the sermon, •while solos were rendered by Mrs. Leo Fortune and,Mr. F. S, Sills,. Interment was made in the -family-plc in Ste canes ceme t icy, the pallbearers being' Messrs. D. Shanahan, P. J. Dorsey, J. F. Daly, Harry Fortune, J. A. Case and A. O'Leary. The' funeral was one of the most largely attended that has been seen in this district , in many years, and testified in large measure to. the esteem and, popularity of the deceas- e.d throughout the district in which he had' spent his, life. James' Catholic Church, Sreaforth., at• nine - thirty o'clock Saturday morning, when Madeline Anne, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. S•olomotn Williams was united in marriage to Wilfred Louis Hauck, son of. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Hauck, of Waterloo. Rev. Fatirer T. P. Hussey officiated and Mrs. Frank Devereaux, church organist, played the wedding music. The bride, given: in marriage by • her father, looked charming in a gown of white silk net over taffeta with full., skirt, sweetheart neekiine• and embroidtered •bolero jacket. She Wore a silk embroidered 'veil held- in place with orange blossoms and car- ried a shower bouquet of Talisman roses, forget-me-nots and ferns. Miss Genevieve Allen; of Port Huron, wear- ing pink taffeta and carrying a. nose- gay of pink rosea•, forget-me-nots and ferns, was, thle maid. of honer.
