The Late Miss Julia Rivers,,—The
death of Miss Julia Rivers took place
in Exeter on Sunday, April 23rd. Miss
Rivers wasthe only daughter of the
late Mr. and Mre. William Rivers and
was• born, is Berthold, England. She
Game to Hibbert Township with her
parents forty-three years ago and
prior to that was .a sewing teacher
in England. Miss. Rivers divided her
time between living at the home of
her niece, Mrs. William Drover, Mc-
Killop, and in Exeter. She lived in
Cromarty for a number of years and
also in Buffalo, N.Y., for twenty
years. The late Miss R.ivers,.had been
ailing since Christmas and recently
had an attack of the flu. The funeral
took place on Tuesday -from the resi-
dence of her brother, Mr. James
Rivers, North Main Street, with inter-
ment in Maitlandbank cemetery. Rev.
Hugh Jack officiated, and Mr. James
T. Scott sang a very fine solo. The
pallbearers were six nephews: El-
mer Rivers a'nai Thorpe - Rivers,
-Seaforth, and E. Appleton, Har-
per, Bert and Bruce Rivers of Exeter.

feting of the May Lane Auxiliary was

ment of Northside United Church with
Miss Rena Fennell do the chair. Pray-
er was offered by Mrs. W. C. Barber.
After the business, discussion; encour-
aging reports were presented' by the
treasurer, Mrs. J. B. Russell, the
Strangers' secretary, and Christian
Stewardkhi.p secretary, Mrs. F. J.
Bechely and Mists S. L Wood, Mrs.

took change. Mr. H. V. Workman
engaged in prayer; Miss S. '1, Wood
read the Scripture lesson. The guest
speaker, Mrs•. Dougall of the Salva-
tion Army, gaate a suggestive and fit-
ting talk for a thankoffering meeting
on the subject . of "Offerings." Mrs.
Grace Hoggart'h contributed an in-
