Hess contributed a pleasing duet. "In
the Garden," with Mrs. M. G. Drys-
dale accompanying at the piano.
Splendid reports of the activities and
financial statemeists of .,the Baby
Band, Mission Circle and W. M. S.
were presented by Mrs. Cross, while
the Horne Helpers' report was given
by Mis. E. McQueen. A pleasing fea-
ture of the meeting was a delightful
address given by Miss. Murray in
which she gave a brief talk on Christ
-
woe, devoting most of her talk to
Temperance, depiceing the evils and
the fatal results of the uses of bev-
erages. Miss Murray was listened to
with rapt atte.ntion. "Once in Royal
David's City" was sung, after which
Rev. R. A. Brook, pastor of the
church, presided over• the election of
Mr. and Mrs A. Filshie and daugh-
ter, Miss Marion, left the Latter part
of last week for Toronto where they
intend taking up residence, having
taken an apartment. for the winter
months. Mr. and Mrs. Filshie and
family will be much 'missed in Hen -
sail, Mrs. Filshie having taught on
the school board as principal of the
continuation school here for some
time a few years ago. Mrs. Filshie
also taught the Bible Class in the
United Church and will be much
missed, as will also her family, her
two sons. Ian and Alex.. both attend-
ing Toronto' University, and her
daughter, OSr-ion, attending Clinton
Collegiate. were very active workers
ia many organizations in the Limited'
Church, and the best wishes of their
hosts of friends go with them to their
new home in Toronto, and wish them
every SUCCeeS.

merchant, Herisall; Fred G., Postmaster, Hensall; Mrs. James McMare
tin (Edith), of Barrie; Mrs. Steve Vair (Margaret), of Westrtrounts and
Mrs. L. Simpson (Lou), Hensall. One daughter, Mrs. T. C. Joynt (Flor-
ence) passed away some few years ago. One of the pioneer residents of
Hensall, Mrs. Bonthron has thirteen grandchildren and four great grand-

The Aerveld Circle of Carmel Pres-
byterian Church. hell a very success-
ful bazaar and sale of hcrme cooking
in the basement of the church Satur-
day afternoon, Dec. 3rd, which wa.s
well patronized, with fea as an added
attraction. Assisting in the booths
were: Fancy and aprons, Misses Hel-
en Moir and Beryl Pfaff; home coek-
ing, Mrs. A. L. Kerslake: Mise Helen
Wa.lker; candy booth, Margaret Sang-
ster, Ruth Young. Maxine Purdy;
serving tea from prettily decorated
tables Were Mrs. Roy McLaren and
Miss Mabel Workman.
Services in the United Church were
conducted by Rev. R. A. Brook, Pas-
tor, on Sunday last, delivering Most
able, interesting and well thought out
discourses. Tihe morning" anthem by
the large choir, under the leadership
of ,Mr. W.-0. Goodwin, sang "God So
Loved the World." A pleasing duet,
"Sun Of My Soul" was sung by Miss
Bella Somale and Ruth Brook. The
evening service was much enhanced
by a splepdidsly 'tendered anthem.

ed at the organ.
Mr. Frank Bean who has not been
in very good health for some time,
suffering from •a heart eendition,
while in the village the latter part of
last week, feeling poorly, went into
the office of Dr. I. G. Smillie and
while there collapsed, and could not
be taken to alis home until the fol-
lowing day, but at dlate of 'writing is
feeling somewhat inaproved.
Mr. Douglas Sangster, who recent-
ly had his tonsils removed, is a.ble to
be out again, feeling much improved
