a'nn'ounced of Margw+ret Isabel, daugh-
ter of Wilitam S. Broadifoot and the
late Mrs. Broadfoot, of Tuckersanith,
to Mr. Robert Allen Armstrong, son
of Mr. and Mrs. John Armstrong,
Stanley, the marriage to take 'place
quietly in October.
Young People's Union Meets. --The
Young People's Union of Northside
United Church held. their weekly
meeting on Tuesday evening, Sept.
20th, with the president, Sam Scott,
in the chair. The meeting opened by
singing Hymn 156, after which the
Lord's Prayer was repeated in uni-
son. The minutes of the previous
meeting were read by the secretary,
Vera Mole, and adopted as correct.
Business was discussed and the col-
lection was taken by Gleu Somers:
Miss .Luella Kaine then took charge
of the devotional period. Hymn 275
was sung, followed with, prayer by
Mise. Myrtle Carter_ The Scripture,
Matt. 7:15-23, was read by Laura
Mole. The topic consisted of several
short stories and was ably given by
Misses Ethel Storey and Luella
Kaine: The meeting closed by sing-
ing Hymn 235 and repeating the Miz-
pah Benediction.

Alert Mission Band Meets. - The
regular meeting of the Alert Mission
Band of Northside United Church was
;held, on Tuesday with Janie Moffat
presiding. The meeting was opened
by call to. worship which was follow-
ed by a hymn. The Scripture was
taken from John I, verses 40 to 51.
Business and various plans were dis-
cussed. The offering was taken up by
Edna Gallop,, followed by a ;hymn,
dere. Parsons told a very absorbing
story of kindergarten children in, Ja-
pan. A hymn was sung and the roil
call taken, and the meeting closed
with benediction.
MacDonald - McLennan. - Knox
Church, Teeswatea', was the scene of
a very pretty wedding_ on Saturday
Iast at 2.30 pan., when Janet, daugh-
ter of Mr. and Mrs. W. McLennan,
became the bride of James A. Mac-
Donald, of Seaforth, son of Mrs. - H.
MacDonald and the bate Mr. H. Mac-
Donald, of Teeswater. Rev. J. D. Wil-
kie performed the ceremony. The
bridle was given away by her father
and wore a gown of white slipper
satin, also a floor length veil. She
carried Tal'ism'an roses and lily of the
valley. Mrs. S. Vernon, 'or 'Parkhill,
and.' Miss Gladys McGregor, of Rich-
ard's Landing, bnidesmaids, were dress-
ed in torquoise net over taffeta. Ruth
Machen, of Winghane was a pretty
flower girl. Mra F. Thompson, of
Parkhill, sang and was accompanied
by Mist Mabel Marshall, of Tees -
water. After a wedding trip through
Ctuebec. Mr. and Mrs. MacDonald• will
reside in Seaforth.
McKillop W. M. S.. Meets. -The Mc-
Killop Branch of the W. M. S. of the
Presbyteriatr Church held a very in-
teresting meeting at the home of Mrs.
R. B. Scott Thursday afternoorlaSept.
l5511, with twenty-five ladies present.
After a half hour spent in social obat,
the president, Mrs. H. McMillan, call-
ed the meeting to carder and Hymn 433
was sung. The Bible reading was
taken by 'Mrs, W. Thompson, follow-
ed by prayer by Mrs. J. L. Bell. Mrs.
Bell also gave a short reading from
the Glad Tidings. Mise Jean Scott
gave a very interesting reading which
had been prepared by Mrs. Brodie,
who was unable to be present. The
Glad Tidings Prayer was given by
Mrs. J. F. Scott.. Mrs..hindsay then
favored with a solo, "In That Beau-
tiful Land." Margaret Carter took up
the offering and after singing Hymn
532 the meeting closed by all repeat-
ing the Lord's Prayer in unison.
Mae Lane Auxiliary Meets. - The
regular meeting of the Mae Lane Aux-
iliary of Northside United Church was
held) in the echooiroom on Monday
night. The meeting opened with the
president, Mrs. Close, in the chair.

Toronto, was the scene of a pretty
September wedding on Wednesday et

Gladys, became the bride of Mr. Stan-
ley Loraine Earl, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Thomas Ea.ri; R. R. 4, 'Mitchell. Rev.
John Watt, St. Catharines, read the
service. Mr. Nairn gave his dau,ghter
in marriage. Before her marriage she
was a student nurse at Scott Memor-
ial Hospital here. She was gowned
in white taffeta figured in gold. Her
long veil was caught with orange blos-
soms, and her bouquet was of bronze
Johanna Hill roses and bouvardia.
Mists. May Nairn•, her sister, was
bridesmaid wearing a floor length
gown in pale blue, with halo hat and
veli. The bridesmaid's bouquet was
of Sweetheart roses. Mr. Donald
Whalen, Parlemount Ave., Toronto,
was groomsman. Miss Alice • Smith,
Toronto, played the bridal music. A
reception was held after the cere-
mony, the brid'e's mother receiving in
midnight blue sheer with corsage of
Sweetheart roses, and . the bride-
groom's mother wearing black crepe.
The bride's grandmother was . also
present, wearing navy sheer with cor-
sage of Sweetheart •roses; A buffet
luncheon was served with Miss Mur-
iel Ballantyne, Seaforth, and Miss An-
nie Atkinson, Goderich, as assistants.
The bridegroom's gift to the bride
was a gold necklace; to the brides-
maid, a gold inlaid compact; to the
best man, a pen and pencil set, and
to the assistants, compaots. Mr. and
Mrs. Earl left later for St Catharines,
Detroit and other centres where the
honeymoon will be spent. The bride
travelled in a smart British tan coat
with lynx trimming, They will reside
in Mitchell upon their; return. Guests
were present at the wedding • from
Mitchell, Stratford, Listowel, Gode-
rich, Mimics), Seaforth and Toronto.
