It was called off. The real contest-
ants woilld have„proven a real draw-
ing card but as they failed to appear
the next beat tiling was done, to sub-
stitute.
The bout'....tween Ted Carroll of
Dublin and Eattling Simon of Lou-
den Was good. Carroll was the out-
etertoline favorite ' from the start and
drew praise .from every 'fan for every
pundit that he lattded. They boxed
for three rounds and th.e judges were
at a loss to declare a winner and ask-
ed for an extra round. Simpson was
willieg, but Carroll was not, so Simp-
son was upheld as the winner.
The next but was &so very good
,as the contestants were local boys,
too. Chuck Messenger who had won
the previous meetiag ag-ainst Jack
Smith had accepted the challenge of
Jack Holland, of S. Columban Hai
hitting was •the feature of the bout
and at one time Messenger sent Hol-
land 'lying out of the ring with a
hard left to the face. Holland was a
bit wary of that left from then on
but kept up his end of the fight to
the finish. The ;edges were azain
unable to come to a decision and ask-
ed for an extra round. The announc-
er, Gerry Holland, would not &law
it, so after amen, deliberation Mes-
senger drew. the ticket. Another bout
between these two will be held mext
time and will be one of tie rnein 'at-
tractions.
