Union Y. P. Meets. -The regular
meeting of the Union Y.P.S. was held
Tuesday in 'Nortihside United Church
with the president, John Mills, pre-
siding. Scripture was read by Miss
Helen Swan and: Miss Luella Keine
led in prayer. There was very little
busdnese to be discussed. The topic
was taken by Luella Keine, followed
by a guitar Bolo by Jean MacDonald.

Miss Joan Ruth Hutchinson, daughter
of Mr. and Mrs'. Ernest Robinson
Hutchinson, of Welkorville, to Mr.
William Gibson White, son of the
late Mr. Ernest Winfield White and
Mrs. White, of Seaforth, is announc-
ed by her parents, the wedding to
take place quietly in St. Mary's An-
glican Church on Monday, Dec. 27th.
Died in San Francisco! -Miss E.
Davidson received a . ware on Thurs-
day morning announcing the sad news
of the death of her brother-in-Iaw, Mr.
H. E. Cherry, which occurred sudden-
ly
uddenly the previous day at his home in
San Francisco. Mr. Cherry was well
known by Many in Seaforth, having
resided here for some years when
he was an employee of the Johnson
Bros. hardware ilrm•. He is survived
by his widow, formerly Miss Li
Davidson, one son and one daught.

collection amounted to $9.00. Re-
peating of the Lord's Prayer in uni-
son, closed the meeting.
Junior Women's institute Meets. --
About thirty members and visitors
gathered at the home of Mrs. James
M. Scott on Wednesday afternoon to
enjoy •the meeting. Mrs. Charles
Eyre presided and opened the meet-
ing with the Institute Ode and re -
leafing the Lord's Prayer in unison.
The roll call was answered by a
(.7hr1stmas suggestion. Margaret Ley -
btu les side won in tate attendance
contest and as a result a social ever-
ing will be held on Monday, Decem-
ber 27th, at the home of Mrs. Wilfred
Coleman in Tuckersmlith, at which
each member may invite one person.
The. program on "Publicity" was com-
menced by singing "Silent Night." A
talk on "Wool" 'in connection with
the buymanshdp projeot, was given
by Mrs. Charles Eyre. Mrs. Jame:'
S' ott gave a practical demonstration
on, a table centrepiece for Christmas.

ner. "Hark, the Herald Angels Sing'
was sung and a stoic' by Mrs. W. Cole-
man, entitled, "Gold, Frankincense
and Myrrh." Mrs. Hay read a poem.
Mias Dora Dalrymple moved a vote
of thanks 'to the hostess. Contest
were enjoyed and Christmas crackers

served.

funeral of the late Henry Stanbus
held at Dashwood on Monday. De-
ceased was a well known resident of
that village.
Mrs. Clara Kaercher, widow of the
late William E aeroher, passed away
at the home of her mother at the 15tn
concession, Hay, on Monday, at the
age of 59 yeses. . The funeral was
held on) Wednegdaay, interment taking
place in, the • 14ionson Line cemetery.
The sudden,death of Andrew Turn-
bull, on Tnesdiay, came as a shock to
this many friends. . While in Dash-
ood Ire suffer ed a heart . attack and
passed away. •, He was a prominent
farmer of Hay Township and lived
on the highway south of St. Joseph.
Surviving bi'm. are his widow and a
number of daughters. ,

was rushed to Seaforth hospital on
Sunday to 'be operated on for appen-
dicitis,

The W.A. of St. John's Ohuroh held
their annual meeting on Monday. The
old officers were all elected for 1938.

extra bales donated and packed by
Mrs. M. G. Beatty and Miss Edyth
Mossop for Western relief.
TUCKER'SMITH
The Tuckersmtth Ladies' Club held
their December meeting at the home
of Mrs'. F. Townsend on Wednesday,
Dec. let.There were 27 ladles pres-
ent and roll call was responded to by
season's greetings to all members.
The annual report was given' by the
treasurer, showing a substantial bal-
ance on hand. The ,year's activities
&were reviewed by the secretary in
.her annual report. The • following
'Program was given: Piano duet,
Mieses Sarah and Fl renoe Whit-
more; vocal duet with gaiter accom-
paniment by Misses Vietta , and Pearl
Colem,,an; reeding, "Prectieal Giving"
by Florence Whitmore; a talk, "Life
in Northern Ontario," by Mrs. E.
Boyce. It was decided) to donate $5
to Clinton Community Hospital for
new sterilizing equipment and, to send
the bale of clothing, Mitts, picture
books anti Christmas' parcels to Mrs.
F. Sioman, at Caperol, Northern On-
tario. A vote of thanks• was tender -

DUBLIN
Death of James Redmond
Death removed! one of Dublinrs' old-
est and most widely known residents
on Saturday, December 4th, when Mr.
James Redmond . ,passed away at his
home in the village after a prolonged
Illness extending over three years.
Mr. Redmond was born in Dublin 79
years ago and spent all his life here.
He is suevived by this widow, former-
ly Miss. Teresa Carpenter. Has only
son, . William, died in Milwaukee, sev-
eral years ago. He is also survived
by one brother, Mr. John Redmond,
and one sister, Mrs. Margaret Craw-
ford,
rawford, both of Loudon. Mr. Redmond
was a devout Catholic and a member
of the Holy Name Society. The fun
er )l was held from St. Patrick's
Church on Tuesday morning at 9.30,
when the _funeral mass was celebrat-
ed by Rev. Father Ffoulkes. Inter-
ment was made in St. Patrick's ceme-
tery, the pal'Ibearers being Messrs.
