til it is determined whether certain

Appeals.—Appeals against the re-
sults of the entrance examinations
must be made to the Public S.cthool
Inspector „before August 15th and
must be accompanied by the appeal
fee of $2, •which • is returned if the
appeal is allowed.
.GODERIOH CENTRE
The following are the results of the
High School Entrance examination for
the centres undler the jurisdiction of
the Goderich High School Entrance
Board. The results are highly favor-
able, there being but fifteen candi-
dates who failed out of a total of 193
candidates, 91 per cent. being success-
ful. This is the highest percentage
.of successful camdidatea ever achiev-
ed in this district.
First and second class honors are
announced: First class honors are
awarded when 75 per cent. or more of
the. total marks is secured, and s•ee-
ond class honors when 70 to 74 per
cent. is obtained.

On Tuesday evening; June 29th, a
large gathering of friends of • the Sep-
arate School Section No. 4 met at Mr.
Michael Coyntr's home to bid farewell
to Alice Agnes Coyne, after one year's
splendid service. The following ad-
dress was read by Tom Morris, a
pupil, and a well -sized cheque was
presented on behalf ,of the section b
Catherine McIver: "Dear Agnes: We
have come here to night to show our
goodfwilI to you. Your stay amongst
us has been short but In that time
you have won the affection of the
pupils and the, confidence of the peo-
ple of the section. In appreciating
your services and in remembering
your days spent at S. S. No. 4, we ask
you to accept this mark of friend-
ship. We all "join in wishing you suc-
cess and happiness in your new
sphere. Signed on behalf of the peo-

. fitting manner mentioning the con-
genial feelings which had alwatys ex-
isted during her term of work there.
A `very fine tribute was paid the de-
parting teacher by Mr. Joe Feeney,
who referred feelingly to her splen-
did quialities as a lady 'and a teacher.
Mr. Coyne'heartily welcomed each and
every one to his home and 'a happy
evening was enjoyed by all.
Mr. Robert Hoggartth, of Stratford,
called on. friends here on Thursday.
Miss Gladys Mien, Hamilton, is
spending her vacation with Mr. and
Mrs. Smith.
Mr. and Mrs. Sutherland, and fam-
ily are ,absent on vacation for three
weeks. .
Mr. L. J. Looby, Messrs. Joseph and
Clayton. and Miss Muriel were Toron-
to visitors during the week.
Miss Mary Krauskopf, St. Thomas,
spent her holidays at the home of her

well picnic. Miss Coyne, assisted by
Joseph P. Coyne and Mise N. Doyle,
conducted ft series of games and -.races

prizes, but, they all proved themselves

and taught throughout the one short
year by their capable sport leader,,
