He then gave some informing' details connect- ed with the Price Spreads Investiga- tio.n contained in Hansard and ..other public and private communications. In speaking of the difficulty young people have in obtaining positions, the speaker pointed out that the pop- ulation of this country will ncit ab- sorb so many young people, no mat- ter how prosperous the country is or what government is in power. He doesn't know how Mr. Stevens is going to pay off the debt by his housing schemes. Parties, he said, may disagree but to see everybody as a crook or a rogue is, in his opdn- i'an, ridieulous iri the extreme: Peo- ple are seeking for some way to im- prove their conditions and we should not scoff at them. He did not consider Mr. Stevens' mines development feasible. He had heard the Prime Minister say that for every dollar taken out of mines, ten dollars were put in. The Gov- ernment would have !both expense and loss in connection with the de- v'el'opment and operating of mines and if it were a case of failure the debt would; still be an topof us.
