Hinchley-Munro.—A quiet wedding
took place in Toronto on Wednesday,
when Elizabeth Pearl, second daugh-
ter of Mr. Hector Munro and' the late
Mrs. Hector M'unro, o± Collings
!became the bride of John Melvin
Hinchley, of Owen Sound, elder sort
of Mrs. J. D. Hinchley and the late
IVIr. J. D. Hinchley of .Seaforth. Rev,
F. H. Larkin, D.D., of Toronto, an
old friend of the groes family, of-
ficiated. After a motor trip to Que-
bec, Mr. and Mrs. Hinchley will take
up residence in Owen Sound.

The meeting was held at the home of
Mrs. E. B. Goudie on Wednesday. The
prograM opened by singing the Institute Ode and followed by the Lord's
Prayer in unison. The roll call was
responded to by thirty members, The
Treasurer .,gave an excellent re por t .
The "Motto" was given by Thelma
Elgie and Miss Josephine Edge sang
a solo, "Long, Long Ago," accompan-
ied by Miss Luella Keine. Mrs, An-
drew Kirk gave an address on the
different modes of old and new ways
of living, which was very much ap-
preciated. At shawl costume was held
and the following wore them; Mrs.
Harvey Moore, .Mrs. Wilfred C:ole-
man, 'Mr, John Sproat, Mesa Isaac
Iqoore, 'Miss Annie Papple, Miss Min-
nie Wheatley, Mrs. John Hillebrecht
and Miss Kate Ellison won the prize
for having the oldest shawl, it being
125 years old. The judge's were Mrs.
Andrew Kirk and Miss. C. R. Her:,
Refreshments were served on the
lawn by severalof the Institute
girls.

W. M. S. Meets. — On Thursday,
August Sith,°the regular meeting -of
the W. M. S. of .Northside United
Church was held in the school room
with a fair attendance for the holi-
day season.' Inathe absence of Mrs.
T. A. Carmichael, on account of ill-
ness, Mrs. R. Archibald conducted the
business part of the meeting. The
budget calls for the $25.00 fox sup-
ply work to be given in. the third
quarter. Mrs. N. Carter, Captain of
Group 4, presided in the missionary
program and :opened with prayer.
Mrs. W. Jamieson took for the Scrip-
ture lesson the 2,3rd Psalm. She. was
followed with prayer by Mrs. Carter.
A splendid program • included a read-
ing by Mrs. J. C. Laing; a 'beautifully
rendered's•olo, "Jesus Keep Me.Faith-
ful, Just Where I am," by Marian
Scarlett, accompanied by Mrs. -C. A.
Barber; Miss Minnie Somerville read

cussion for the afternoon was on
hymns and mimic, Four members
took ,part, namely: Mrs. J. G. Doh-
erty, Mrs. J. Finlayson, Mrs. J. B.

of the grand old hymns, the theme
being, "Faith and Love," After the
offering was received, all joined in
singing, "To Give Thanks Unto the

ed by relatives, neighbors and many
friends the funeral of Mrs., Edward
Broughton was held Saturday mosm-
ing. Following a short service at
her late home on the 16th concession
of Erma, the cortege proceeded to S.
Brigid's Church, ' Kennicott, where
mass of requiem was sung by Rev.
Father .T. Moren. • Interment was
reacia at Seaforth, Rev: Father Hus-
sey of Seaforth assisted at the grave-
side service. The pallbearers were

The funeral of Mrs, Richard Sel-
lers was held Nem her late residence,
Dursley Street; on Saturday after-
noon. Service was conducted at the
house, ,and grave -aide by Rev. R. A.
Brook. Before her marriage deceas-
ed was Miss Coulter. She is surviv-
ed by four sons; Albert of town, 'Wes-
ley in the West, Russel of Simcoe
and Whitfield of Wingham. One sem,
David, died some years ago: A bro-
ther, Joseph Coulter, also survives.

In the death of Mr. William Mc-
wlv ch occurred in Brantford
General rospital en Thursday, Aug.
8th, thi/ township last' -a w'i'dely
known nd -deservedly esteemed resi-
dent. Me. MoCulla had not been in
good health for some years, although
he camplarined little, and was -,able to
be about the greater part of the
time. This surmtmer he underwent
treatment in 'Scott Memorial Hospi-
tal for tw'o weeks and then after a
ten day rest at his hartie, went to
Brantford, where -he eepected to un-
dergo an operation and where he was
accompanied by 'his niece, ,Miss Ag-
nes Wilson, who was with' him when
ho passed away. The deceased was
born on the 2nd coirepsslion of Mc-,
Killofp 65 years ago being a son of
the late MIs', and Mirs. Francis Mc -
Culla, 'who wet:4' pioneer residents of
this district. Fifty-seven years. ago'

to reside until his death. He was an
able leusiness man; but possessed a
genial wholesome disposition that
merle him a general. favorite, and he
leaves a wide circle of friends, who
sincerely' mourn his departure. Mr.
McCune was never married, but is
survived by three. sisters, Agnes, Mrs.
Albert 1V1eGaviin, MoKillop; Annie;
Mrs. George R. Wilson, Park Rapids,
Minnesota, and Margaret, Mrs. J. J.
Skalitzky, Viking, Alberta, -all of
whom were present for the funeral.
The remains were brought from
Brat -ft -ford to his, home from where
the funeral was held oei Monday af-
ternoon when the se,rvices were con-
ducted by his pastor,, Rev, C. •Cum-
ming. Interment was made in Malt -
landbank 'cemetery, ,the ipallbearere
being 'Messrs. Robert Grieve, Alex.
Dennis, T. A. Beattie, James.
son, rHarry Rinn and' illiam Somer-
ville. The flower bearers wer-.I.

At the United Church on Sunday
morning the service was in charge
of the Young People. The sensor
choir was assisted by the juniors and
special hnusic was isupplied. Jack
Bennett presided and prayers were
led -by Margaret Small and George
Stroughan.
Miss Marjorie Jamieson, preacelent
of Heron Presbyterial, gave a talk
on"Alone" in which she told of some
of the earns of the 'Young People. Mr.
Bush sang a solo.
Mir. Bryant of Stratford had charge
of the service at the Baptist Church
on Sunday afternoon. His address
was on "The Load's Prare-r" and he
was assisted in .the service of song
by a male quartette. "lViesers. Holm -
stein, Light -foot, Gilbert and Bryant,
all of Stratford. Next Sunday Rev.
Mr. Sherman will have charge of his
own pulpit.
