Presbyterian tO'hurch, Edmonton. with

of the church officiating. Mr. and
Mrs. Williams, of Edmonton, friends
of the couple, were the attendants.
D:r. Strang, who was the second wo-
man to graduate from the Medical
School of the University of Western
Onta1-io, received her doctor's degree
in 1929. After spending a year as
interne at the Hamilton hospital she
volunteered her services as medical
missionary for the Presbyterian
church in the west. Since that time
she has been instrumental in build-
ing the little log church and manse
and ministering to the people of .that
district. She preaches two or three
times each Sunday, conducting a Sunt'
day school, is leader of the twin
orchestra, distributes clothing and
other supplies to people on town re-
lief, is the only ,dentist within a
radius of many miles' and on occa-
sions uses her skill in veterinary
cases.
Junior 'Women's Institute. — The
regular meeting wills be held at the
home of Miss Anne Moore on Wed-
nesday, September 13•th: at 2.:30 p.m.
The topic will be "Haw to Plant an
A<paragus Bed." The roll call will
he a hint on storing vegetables.
Bowlers Win —\V,. G. Willis, Chas.
Holmes, J. E. Willis and Dr. F. • J.
Bechely were in Stratford Wednes-
day evening .playing in Merchant.,
and Manufacturers tbowling tourna-
ment. There were 84 entries and
the Seaforth rink came second, win-
ning handsome walnut tables.

Will Reopen Bowling Ally. — Mr.
Bert Williams will open the bowling
ally for the fall. and winter season
on. Thursday next, September 14th.
The alleys have been resurfaced and
the surroundings redecorated. '.Mr.
Williams is giving Cups to the high-
est :bowler each month and also to
the highest in the season.

Death of J. F. Welsh.—Following
a heart illness of seven months, Mr.
James Frederick Welsh, a life long
resident of Seaforth, •passed away
Wednesday evening, Septemlber $th,
at his, home on North Main Street.
The deceased was a son of the late
John and Catherine Welsh, and was
Born in Seaforth 60 years age. Af-
ter attending the public school and
Collegiate Institute, he was engaged
for some years in the pump manu-
facturing business with his father,
and for 21 years filled the offices of
Bailiff and County Constable. Mr.
Welsh was a member of *he L. 0. L.
and L. 0, B. A. fraternal societies
and also' of Northside United Church.
Thirty-five years ago he was united
in marriage to Miss Bertha McDiar-
mid, also of Seaforth, who survives
him. together with ap adopted son,
George. He is also survived by one
brother, Mr, Hugh •Wel:eh, of Hamil-
ton. The funeral will be held from
his late home on ,Saturday afternoon
at two o'clock and will be follewed
by interment in 'Maitlandtbank ce• n t-
tery. Memlbers of the L. 0. L. will
act as pallbearers.

Collie djies.—Byng, the well known 1 ,rame•s Street on Wednesday ,evening,
Collie dog belonging to Mrs. Frank Septentiber Gth, of Mrs, Hugh Davis,
Cudmore, was found dead Sunday in
a pit at Christie's slaughter house
in Egmondville. The dog had evi-
dently fallen in the pit and was un-
able t� get out. It was found by
Mr, Sandferd, whose barn is nearby.
Byng was a general favorite on Main
Street and will he greatly missed.
Died in Massachusetts.—Mrs. Robt.
Govenlock and Mrs. Me�laoghton re-
ceived a wire' on' Sunday announcing
the death of their brother-in-law, Dr.
McPherson. which sad event occurred
at his home in Springfield, Massa-
chusetts. Dr. McPherson, who had
hien in poor health for two years, is
survived hy• his wife, two daughters
and one son.
Teachers Back At Work.—Teach-
ers at the Collegiate Institute and
Public School started work on Tues-
day. The Collegiate staff is short

1882, but she is survived by three
sons, -Jolkeph, of Vancouver; George,
of Nelson, B. 'C., and Eduard, of
Cheboygan, Michigan. She was a
member of St. Thomas' Anglican
Church. The funeral will be held
from her late home ore Friday after-

Home and School Association Will
Hold Annual Meeting...—The, annual
meeting of the Home and 'School As-
sociation will he helrl on Monday af-
ternoon, September 10th, at 4 o'clock
in the public school. Reports for
the past year will he received and
the officers 'elected for the coming
year, so it is important that all mem-
bers and others interested should he
prevent. A special meeting of the
Association will he held on Tuesday

Toronto with her aunt, Mrs. Bor-

Mr. and Mrs. George Coates were

Miss Elva Wheatley returned to
Toronto on Monday after spending
her holidays at the home of her par
ents.
'Mr. Fred Jackson, of Seaforth, vis-
ited with, Mr. Ross McGregor on
Friday last.
Miss Gawley, of Ripley, teacher of
Constance School, 'returned to her
duties on Monday. Much" praise is
due Miss Gawley for her excellent
success with her Entrance class, six
havting written Entrance and one for
continuation .school, and all were suc-
cessful in passing.
!Mrs. Wynne and George, H,oward,
and Helen and 'Miss Stewart, of For-
est, spent Sunday at the home of Mr.
and Mrs. William) Britton. Miss .Mil-
dred Britton returned with them for
a few days.
Women's Association.—The W. A.
met at the home of Mr. and Mrs.
William Britton on Thursday last,
forty ladies being ,present. The
meeting o.pene.d with Mrs. Hugill in
the chair. After singing and prayer
by Mrs. Rogerson and Mrs. Britton,
Mr. and Mrs. Charles Regele ac-
companied Mr. and Mrs. Alex. Stos-
kbpf -were at Toronto Exhibition this
week.
We are pleased to know the', Miss
Marie Koehler, who was ill, is able
to be out again.
The August meeting' of the W. M.
S. and Ladies' Aid of Duff's Chilrch,
McKillop, was held in the church on
Wednesday, August 23rd. The meet-
ing was .presicled over by Mrs. Ches-
ter Henderson, who opened the meet-
ing with a hymn. Mrs. J. Hillebrecht
'and. 'Vlns. Johnson offered prayers.
Mrs. N. R. Dorrance read an inter-
esting article from the Leaflet and
Mrs, J. E.' Daley also gave a read-
ing. The business was discussed
when it was decided to call in the
mite boxes for the September meet-
ing. A heentn was sung and the
Lord's Prayer,' was repeated in uni-
son.
