Death' of Miss Jennie McBride. -
This community was shocked on Sat-
urday afternoon last, when it learned
that Miss Jennie McBride had .been
found dead in her home len Centre
Street, ,death, apparently, having ov-
ertaken her nearly a week previously.
Miss McBride had attended church'
the Sunday evening previous, which
was the last time she was seen alive.
Nothing,r
however, wasthought o,
her absence, as her work as dress-
maker frequently took her to the
country for a week at a time, and
the neighbors thought she was this
engaged last week. Towards the end
of the week, however, when no in-
formation could be obtained as to her
whereabouts, the neighbors became
alarmed and asked Mr, Sylvester Al-
len to make an investigation. On en-
tering the house Mr. Allen fotmnd the
body of Miss McBride lying on a
couch, with a coat over her night
clothes. She had, apparently, been
taken ill after retiring on Sunday
evening and had arisen to go into
another room, where she had secur-
ed a glass of milk (before collapsing
on the couch where the body was
found. Dr. •.T. F. Burrows, coroner,
was immnedibtely summoned, who de-
cided an inquest was uzineeessary as
death had ensued suddenly from 'na-
tural cases. The deceased was horn'
in Toronto township, near Brampton,
70 years ago and was a daughter of
the late Joseph McBride and Ellen
Wedgewood, her mother being a di-
rect descendant of the great English
potter, Josiah Wedgwood, and Miss
