SEAFORTH, MITCHELL
AND MORTON TIED
IN SOFTBALL GROUP
Teams Evenly Matched •
Will Mean Close
Final Gaines.
PROTEST DECISION
Mitchell defeated 'Seaforth .7-6 on
Tuesday, the last game of the soft=
ball schedule. There was a large
crowd of fans at the game, but they
weren't sure which team won.
At the end of seven innings Mit-
chell was leading 7-6, but the Sea -
forth boys kept. on playing expecting
to 'finish the nine innings. They se-
cured two rune in the eighth inning
with Mitchell drawing a blank, thus
'making The count 8- 7in favor of
Seaforth. The umpire, however, sud-
denly decided to call the 'gat rle, there-
fore the score went back to 7-6 for
Mitchell, where it was at the end of
the seventh. The Seaforth. team
wan.te d the game to go on, saying
that Mitchell would have to forfeit
it in any ease because of lateness in
arriving at the ball .field. Seaforth,
however, did not press their claim
and Mitchell was 'allowed the game
(unless the coriinvittee otherwise rul-
ed).
By winning this genie, Mitchell,
l‘5onkto:n and 1 Seaforth will. all be
tied; each team having lost 2 games.
It will he a race n,ow to decide the
winner. As these three .teats are
evenly matched, soma, good games
will be seen in the play-offs,
.Tuesday night's game was the best'
seen here this year. B.i•11 •Cudm'ore
pitched the first four innings and got
three strikeouts. F. Speare, a new-
comer, hurled the rest of the game
and also struck out three men. Ran-
son went the limit for Mitchell, get-
ting one strike -oat. Speare clouted
out the only homer in the sixth in-
ning with no one on the bases. The
game was smart and fast from start
to finish and 'was played in siitty-
three minutes, which is fast time for
local softball.
