The meeting was then open for busi-
ness. Plans were made for the Sun-
day school picnic, to be) held, at Bay-
field on July 21st. After the closing
by the Lord's ,PrAY4, a dainty lunch
was served by the ladies in charge.

Lineman ]Dlactrocuted.—Wm. Lut-
man, -a lineman for the Exeter Public
Utilities Commission, was electrocut-
ed Wednesday afternoon wbilei repair-
ing a transformer. Lutman with his
assistant, Elmer Reeder, had made
Some repairs to the transformer in
th� m6rning, and at noon it was re-
ported that the, fuse had blown out.
He was about to'climb the pole and
had not left the ground, simply put-
ting his arm around thp pole, when
he received, the shock that resulted in
his death. A wire on the side of the
pole had become, short circuited. Lut-
in-an 'had been connected with the pub-
lic utilities for several years. He
leaves a widow and two children.

8ad Accident.—Wbile assisting 'his
father hauling in bay Saturday, little
Stewart Turner, elde5st son, of Mr.
and Mrs. Harvey Turner, was thrown
from the loaA which upset, the little
boy's head stTiking an iron post which
rendered him unconscious and in spitei
of. all medical skill could do, he pass-
ed -away at an early hour Saturday
evening. Mr. and Mrs, Turner and
their little family have the sympathy
of the whole community. The funeral
was very largely attended on Tues-
day to Bayfield cemetery.

,Mrs, Schell and little family, of De-*
troit, are visiting at the home of her
parents, Mr. and Mrs, Austin.
. The township council met Tutnday.
There were a number of ratepayers
present to discuss the drainage and
weed question.

Bayfield and Varna.

United Church under the -auspices of
the Ladies' Aid -was held on Friday
evening on the lawn of Win. Woods.
A record crowd was in attendance. An
excellent supper was served by the
ladies of ,the congregation. During

of London, wbQ swam across the Day -
field river at its widest point and pur-
chased asixViound salmon trout from
Mr. Louis McLeod and returned' im-
mediately with the fish in time for
dinner. The little child -maid possesses -
both maternal wisdom and swimming
ability, having piovided, herself with
sufficienit rope for the fisherman to
wrap and tie the six pound fish to
the back straps of her bathing suit,
but upon entering the water on the
return trip the big fish protruded out
on 'each side to such an extent that it
prevented bar accustomed overhand
stroke, when the old fashioned dog
..
style, of swimming was improvised and
the -river was eue,ceGsfully negotiated.
The little swimmer carried the pur-
chase money in her hand, during the
swim -and returned, with the correct
change in similar manner. After the

summer cottage at Bright's Grove, re-
turned last week.
The W. M. S. hold their regular
monthly meeting at the home, of Mr.
and Mrs. A. Jamieson on Wednesday
afternoon, with an exceptional large
attendance. The programme was well
given and all those who took part de-
serve much credit.

Dodds,. widow of, the late William
Hunter. .Mrs. lHuAter. had been to
poor health for, many years and- for
,the past telili years she had been blind.
Mrs. Hunter was a daughter Of the
late, Thomas Dodds and' was born on
Lot 31, ,Concession 7, where she reli,
sided until her marriage 47 years ago
to MT. 'William Hunter, Following
her marriage she resided on the Oth
concession, west of Winthrop, until
the death of her husband 25 years
ago. For the past number of years
she has, been an invalid at the home,
of her broither,'Mr. Thomas Dodds, on
the homestead farm. 'Mrs. Hunter was
a life long,merdber of Cavan Church,
I
Wintlirop, and for a great many years
a teacher in the Sunday School, and
as long as her 'health permitted she
was a regular attendant at church ser-
vices -and took a great intereat and
active part in the different orgalfiza-
tions of church work. She is surviv-
sisters,
Mrs. ' Elliott, of Silver Plains, Mani-
toba; Mrs. Smith, of Brussels, and
Messrs, Robert, John and Thomas
Dodds, of McKillop, and Mr. Adam
Dodds, of SeafDrth. The funeral was
held from the home of her brother'
M.T. Thomas ,Dodds, on Thursday af-
ternoon, when the services were con-
ducted by Rev. Mr. Smith, of Cavan
Church. Inter�nent was made in Mait-
Iandbenk cemetery, the pallbearers be-
ing six nephews, MessTs.'Hiram and
Thomas Blanchard, William and Ad-
am Dodds, Robert Dodds and Bernard
Smith.
