N. hays. -The news of the death in New York City on Fri- day, Decemiker 13th, of Mr. Robert Nelson Hayg, came as a great shock, not only to his relatives, but to a hos: of friends in Seaforth and vicinity. Mr. Hays had been ill for seven weeks from sleeping sickness, but had made such progress that his ultimate re- covery was :being confidently looked forward to, when he suffered a brain hemorrhage on Friday and passed away shortly after. The deceased was a son of the late Thomas E. Hays, one of the pioneer residents of Mc- Killop township, where he was born 59 years ago. After graduating from the Seaprth Collegiate Institute, .he taught ` chool for a few years at No. 4, McKillop,: before going to Chicago, where he was engaged in the book publishing business. .Later he wen to New York with Mr. George Doran and formerly the Geo.
