After the opening devotional exercis es, leaflets were read as follows: - Korea by Mrs. D. J. Stephenson; North and West China by Mrs. El- zin McKinley; South .China by Mrs. .James McClinchey; India by Mrs. R. i1R. Peck; Africa by Miss Margaret McKinley; Mrs. J. Armstrong read the devotional leaflet. Mrs. R. Mc- Kinley gave a very splendid reading, ',entitled, "A Christmas Thought." The text word chosen for January meet- ing is "ClleerfulnM1ss." Following this ,came the election of officers for the incoming year, resulting as follows: President, Mrs. D. J. Stephenson; 1st vice-president, Mrs. R. McKinley; 2nd vice-president, Mrs. E. McKinley; -treasurer, Mrs. Nelson Keys; corres- ponding secretary, Mrs. B. Keys; re- ceording Secretary, Mrs. R. M. Peck, superintendent of systematic giving, Mrs. T. Robinson; Associate Helper's secretary, Mrs. J. McClinchey; press secretary, Mrs. E. McKinley; Temper- ance secretary, Mrs. Henry Erratt; literature secretary. Mrs. D. J. Moore returned to Toronto on Thursday to :spend the winter with her son and slaughter. • Death of W. J. McBrien.-Follow- ing a brief illness, the death occurred suddenly from a heart attack of Wil- liam John McBrien, of Hullett, early Tr/day morning, December 13th. Mr. . McErien was born 72 years ago in HDullett, where he spent his entire life, son of the late iifr. William McBrien. In 1884 he was married to Elizabeth Miller, of Hullett, who survives. 'There also survive, four sons ani three daughters: Garnet, of Detroit; Alfred, of Saskatoon; Eldred, of De- troit, and Secord, at home; Mrs. T. E. Mason, of Clinton; Mrs. Fletcher aGibbings, of Kindersley, Sask., and Mary, of Essex. He is also survived 'by one sister, Mrs. H. Heslop, of De- troit. In Mr. McBrien's death. Hul- lett loses, one of its most worthy and respected residents. Mr. McBrien was Conservatme in politics; an Orange- snan, being. • a member of Seaforth Lodge, and was a valued member of St. Thorn s' Amlglican Church, Sea- /orth. The funeral which was held an Sunday at 1.30 o'clock at his late residence was very largely attended. Revs T. E. Brown, of Seaforth, con- educted the services, which were in ,charge of Seaforth and Clinton Or- ange Lodges. Interment took place in Clinton cemetery.
