good, and cars are still going. Some
were stuck in snow banks on Sunday
and had to be whelped out. -Phe bazaar
which was held in the A.O.U.W. PrPall
on Wednesday last was a decided suc-
cess. The roads were bad and the
weather stormy, but this did not pre-
vent a goodly number from attending.
A splendid supper was served and a
great deal of fancy work disposed of,
but there are yet some articles for
sale and these will be found at the
home of 'MTs. !Smith and 1Vfrs. William
Humphries. Proceeds amounted to
$180. -'Mrs. William Hoy is getting

Notes. -What might have been a
disastrous fire was prevented by
prompt action last Wednesday morn-
ing when the ceiling of a room in Mr.
Jackson Wood's home caught fire from
overheated pipes. The fire alarm was
given on surrounding telephone lines
and a large number of neighbors were
soon on the scene. Fire extinguish-
ers and buckets of water were brought
into action and the fire was gotten
under control in the one room. Al-
though considerable damage was done
to the ceiling and contents of the
room, everyone was thankful that it
was no worse.
