Sr. II—Arthur Henderson, Hector Lamont and Mildred Hender- son, all passed with honours. Sr. I -- Alma Lawrence. At the end of the term several pupils handed in scrap books pertaining to literature. These books contained poems and pictures of great poetic and historic value, and of which the pupils were credited for. Beth Shannon had perfect attendance for the year beginning September 1, 1928, until June 28, 1929. Number on the roll for the year was 21;, av- erage attendance, 18.9. — Gladys R. Way, Teacher. Presentation.—Mise Gladys Way, having resigned her duties as teacher in S. S. No. 4, was presented by her pupils with a 'beautiful case of silver and many other lovely articles on Friday last. These gifts were just slight tokens of the esteem in which Miss Way is held in the hearts of the children. After a few minutes of thanks and kind advice to the pupils, Miss Way treated the children in dif- ferent ways, one of which was the leaving with each pupil a beautiful autograph album. Mr. Rapien will spend a week visiting here., while Mrs. Rapien intends staying a month at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Dan Regele.—We are sorry to report that Mr. Fred Hoegy is not improving as much as looked for.—Mr. and Mrs. A. P. Hampel and son, Earle, of Ayr, Mr. and Mrs. Oswald Hampel, of Pete - wawa, and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Buder and baby, Shirley, of Pembroke, vis- ited at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Eggert on Tuesday afternoon. --4Mr. Lawrence Messerschmidt spent a couple of days this week at Niagara Falls. Badly. Burned.—A serious accident occurred at the home of Mrs. Joseph Murray, 5th concession, on Sunday. Mrs. Murray had thought the fire had gone out and she picked up the oil can and poured some into the stove. Immediately there was a flash of flame and the oil in the can taking fire, it exploded, the blazing contents going all over Mrs. Murray. She was terribly burned and on Monday was taken into the hospital at 'Seaforth in the Holmes' ambulance, where she will be confined for some time. 1HIllILLSGR EIEN Notes.—Mrs. J.
