The outstanding -series of addresses
were given at the Quiet Hour service
every morning at eight o'clock by the
Ren Dr. William Hiram Foulkes, of
Newark, N. J.,. on the teme: "Youth
and the Pathways to Life." These
were deeply spiritual.' The keynote
convention speech was given at the
opening session by the Rev. Dr.
Daniel A. Poling, of New York, who
was elected president of the move-
ment at the convention at Portland
two years ago and re-lected at
Cleveland. The keynote was soutid-
ed with the slogan: "Crusade With
Christ." In part, Dr. Boling said:
"Personal allegiance to arid accept-
ance of Jesus Christ" has defined the
spirit of our programme for the past
year. By the unanimous vote of the
representatives of the denominations
and commissions, whose delegates sit
in this conventien, it has leen made
the legend of our plans for the two
years just ahead. Pemonal accept-
ance of and allegiance to Jesus Christ!
Crusade with Christ! The two- are
one! To go with Him in His world -
saving way, we must be with Him.
Beyond all creedal statements and in-
cluding them, this trumpet is the
challenge to be Christians and "to do
Whatever He would like to have DS
do." Here our programme stands or
falls. Here enters victory or defeat.
We can do all things through Christ.
We can only fall without Him.
"For me, Evangelism is first. Youth
needs pre-erninently not technical ed-
ucation, but an informed and vitaliz-
ed heart. Out of the heart are the
issues of life. Organize in personal
evangelism. In our union activities
let us come alongside the city federa-
tions of Churches to participate in
visitational evangelism and let no
pastor ever fail to have in congrega-
tional evangelism the one hundred
per cent. loyalty and participation of
his Christian' Endeavorers. Bible
stud i classes and mission study class-
es, as well as classes definitely or-
ganied _to study personal work,
should be dedicated to- the supreme
business of Winging young and old
into personal acceptance of and al-
legiance to Jesus •Ohrist. We -must
have our part in sheing to it that
Christian education is unfalteringly
and pre-eminently Christian."
A SUGGESTION TO BEEF
RAISERS
Beef cattle raisers are realizing a
period of better prices for their pro-
duct. The priee cycle heel been a
long time at the bottom of its normal
cuvve but would appear to be on the
up swing. Unfortunately, the ixievit-
able turn for the better has found
many farmers unprepared to step in
anci take advantage ol the existing
conditions.
Feeder buyers -are finding that the
supply of feeding cattle for Ontario
Urals is limited. It has been possible
in past years to buy western bred
etteekers and feeders in almost any
• quantity and of desirable quaity.
