Young Peoples' League.—The league
meeting in the United Church on
Tuesday evening was in charge of
the Missionary and Christian Fellow-
ship Departments, Messrs. William
Black and Murray Savauge being in
charge of the programme. The Scrip-
ture lesson was read by Miss Marg-
aret Rivers. A reading was given by
Miss Hilda Batchelbir and a duet by
Miss Ila Johnson and Miss Margaret
Ashton. A very interesting topic on
"Christian Endeavour and Missiops,"
was given by Miss Anna Govenlock.
A short social period was spent in
solving a musical.
..The Ulrich Cempany.—The second
Leteurn concert, the Ulrich Company,
presented a splendid programme o
magic and mystery in Cardno's Hall
last Friday evening. The company
was composed of Mr. and Mrs. Ulrich.
The programme presented was quite
varied in eature. Some of the tricks
of the great magicions were very suc-
cessfully performed, as were also many
stunts, tricks apd weird -performances
that were eaterely new and original.
The closing 'Wunther, in which flowers,
faces and exists were materialized in
a "spirit cabinet," provided a con-
tinual air of emystery and suspense.
Mr. Ulrich as a magician, is one of
the best, and his sleight-of-hand and
spiritualistic materialization were a
source' of wonder to the audience
throughout the evening, while Mrs.
Ulrich acted very ably as his assist-
ant and pianist, and captivated the
audience with her pleasing person-
ality. -The next Lyceum concert, The
Man of Many Talents, Pietro la Verdi,
will be in Seaforth on February 25th.

conclude his report at the forthcom-

of his speech were: "The farmers of
this vicinity can make this club as
successful as they wish"; "the benefit
received will be in proportion to the
effort put into the affair;" "let us
make our club a eredit to the farm-

Death of Mrs. John D. MacDermid.
—The Clinton -News-Reeord -of last
week /akes the following reference
to the death 'of Mrs, John D. Mac-
Dermid, daughter of Mit. A. Mac-

will sympathize with the family in
their bereavement: "The death oc-
curred •at the Clinton Hoepital on
Tuesday night of Christerta McGre-

years, in the township of Hulayeit,
where she was born. Later thts fare-
ily moved to Seaforth, where they
resided for several years: in 1917
she was married to John Maclaer-
mid. The few years of their married
life they lived coa. a farm on the Strite
ford highway. Upon the death of
her husband, about three years ago,
she and her sister, Mrs. Farn-
ham, came to liye in Clinton.
Daring her short residence here she
became known to a wide circle of
friends. All who knew her esteemed
her highly for her womanly charm
and beauty and strength of character.
She was a znember of Wesley -Willis
congregation arid active in its work,
being at the time of her death presi-
dent of the Girls' Club. Her unex-
