UNION STOCK YARDS, TORONTO, Jana
2nd. -With only three market days last week
cattle receipts totalled only 840 head, and
trade was so slow that even this light offer -
Ing was not entirely disused of. But for
the supply from the West the offering
would have been no heavier than this week
a year ago, when the total was 225 head
et cattle _offered for sale on the market.
There was nothing doing in the way of
exporters, and the big packing houses bought
very sparingly. Mast of the butcher steers
and heifers sold to small butcher. at prices
ranging from 8, to 6 cents, with only
a small share of the offering showing even
good quality. Butcher cows were in poor
demand at from 8 to 4% cents, and the
vqry' light run of stockers and feeders sold
allow at from 87s to 43i, cents, there being
aro real good feeders, Of 500 cattle on
through billing, the bulk went for export to
Great Britain, with a few consigned to
Buffalo. Trade in milkers and springers
was even more draggy than that in killers.
The small meats supply came .mainly off
the road, and wee not sufficient to eatisfy
the denulnds of -local butchering. with the
result that veal calves sold atron* at from
11 to 12 cents, while lambs gained a dollar

HELP HELPLESS BLIND BABIES
A Dominion Charter, withoutstock
subscription, was recently obtained
for the establishment in the city of
Ottawa, of a Home, Nursery Hospit-
al and Kindergarten, for the blind
under six . years of age, free to all
from any p_rovince in the Dominion.
So far nothing has been done for
those poor unfortunates. According
to reports received from the various
Provincial authorities, there are at
present nearly 250 in the Dominion.
The late Sir Arthur Pearson before
his death, chaimed that "Sunshine
Home," at Chorley Wood, England,
was "the only home in the Empire
for Blind Babies." It is ,hoped short-
ly to have the SECOND in Canada.
To this end money is urgently requir-
ed. Help us with your generous gift.
"Lest we forget; Do it now!" Cheques
should be made payable to the Can-
adian Blind Babies Home Association.
Remittances will be promptly acknow-
ledged. '
