Trading In cattle was slow, but there was
o fair thence of the market being cleaned
op. Several loads were on sale that had
been held for a week. The top for steers
was 07.10 and other ,ala were made at 57
and 07.25. Throe prices were obtained for
the beat Jots of both local and Western
cattle, Medium quality steers, irrespective of
weights, brought prices from thin down to
86. A number of fairly heavy rough North-
west ,teen were sold around $6.76, and the
.lighter common kinds were from 14.00 op.
There were not many heifers. One lot of
lust medium quality weighed separatelY av-
eraged 826 pounds, and brought 05.25. Thin
little heifers were sold ea Jow oo $2.50. One
'load of good heifero, white-faced cows,
'brought $6.25. Good cowu of dairy breeds
were meetly $5 to 05.26. A load of rather
plain Northwest cows of fair weights
brought 94.76 and local big -bodied cows were
from $8.00 up. There w4 re only n few odd
bulls on sale and thmebrought $3.00 and
sander.
Quotations: ,Butcher steers, good, 57 to
$7.50; medium. $6 to 86.7.5: common, $4 to
$6.75: butcher heifess, good, $6.50 to $7:
medium, $5.25 to $6.25; common, $2.50 to
15; butcher cows, good, 55 to 15.75; medium.

32.50: butcher bulls, common, $2.50 to $9.
Calf receipts, 464. Cnlva about steady and
n good demand. A Sew small lots of good
veals brought $7 and 17.25, but the bulk of
calm of fair to good ones were made at
around 86. 'Medium quality drinkers, around
34: culla, $8.
Quotations: Good veal, 56 to $7.26: med-
ium, 06; common. $4 to 24.50; grass, 81.
Sheep receipts, 3,709 Sheep scarce and
market steady. Good cheep from 84 to 86.
Lambe weaker. Early sales of good lambs
were made at 110, bui, priest weakened and
bulk of the good Iolaoved at around $9.
Medium quality lambs, $x.50 to 89: and light
thin ones, $7.
Quotation: Ewm, $22 to 86; Iambi, good..
39 to $10; common, 87 to $8.
Hog receipts, 2,033. Market umettled.
Few lots of selects brought $14.50. Sellers
holding out for higher prices. Smooth fat
hogs of select weights brought 214. Looks
like price will settle close to 814.50 for
selects. Heavies and roughs not In demand.

The market for fresh butcher cattle -today
wee ore brisk than at any time last week.
,with prices practically steady far the bulk
and an odd top in both the handyweight
and export riseses showing n slight advance.
Stale cattle. of which there were some 700
head on offer, were draggy, however, ant
barely steady. A.11 but some 600 head of
the reasonable -sized offering had ceased the
✓ ealm by 2 o'clock, and the lot wan near to
:being cleaned up at the close. The best
load of heavy cattle averaged 1,960 pounds
and sold for Corbett and Hall at 8% cents
and there were quite a few choice heavim in
singles and small lots at 8 cents, and the
bulk of choice heavim at from 7 to 7% its.
O0 cattle under 1,200 pounds, the best load,
sold by J. B. Shields and Son, averaged
1.190 pounds and made 864 cents, or even
with the best load of heavies. Nothing
weighing under 1,000 pounds, except an odd
baby beef, made better than 7%. Of cattle
•ander 1,200 pounds, the hest load, sold by
J. B. Shields and Son, averaged 1,190 pounds
except as odd baby beef, made better than
76'4, andmost of the light -weight ,teen of
good quality moved at from 664 to 7 cents.
Botcher rows for the greater part were just
steady et last week's decline, though nn odd
op made 6 cents, and one prime cow 67/40.
Bulls were a light offering, and the top,
gar one only. was 51,4 oenta. with only a
few choice at 5 cents. Several loads of stale
cattle and a few head of the fresh receipts
sold for feeding purposes at from 4yo 0 614
cents.
Milk and springer trade was slow. with
not many offered and price! about steady,
With grass plentiful and rdtlk showing no
improvement in price, there in not much out-
look for brisk movement in the cane of
milch cows.

last week owing chiefly to n somewhat light

Spring lambs sold steady at 12% cents
for Imps, though the number at that price

Hogs generally brought 141E cents, fed and
watered, which ons steady with last Week's
elate, but packer buyers bid a half lower for
today's toa,-ling.
Reheipts to -day were 2,997 cattle, 318
calves; 1,390 hogs, and 1,587 sheep and lambs.
