Hockey Prospects. — The Junior
Hockey Club, playing under the
auspices of the G. W. V. A. last year,
have organized again for this season.
The boys and the management are.
more than satisfied with the record
of the Juniors'f4 their first year out
and promise to get closer to the
championship this time as there is
plenty of good material. The G. •W.
V. A. gymnasium «ill be used every
Friday night until ice is made, com-
mencing Friday, th,' 18th, from 7 to,
8 p.m. Ali boys under 2s( year's
eligible for junior hockey, will be wel-

Jfhe holiday dance on Thanksgiv-
ing night was •a, decided • success.
Many .were hamie over the holiday
and enjoyed with)the patrons one of
the best programmes yet provided.
The music supplied by Miss iBolger's
Stratford Orchestra, was of the best
and has been bodktel for a future en-
gagement. The ladies' Auxiliary had
charge of the lunch and as usual serv-
ed up the best. •
—On Armistice night, Friday, • No-
vemiber lith, the Club is having a
challenge euchre between the Ladies'
Auxiliary and t'he men members of
the Club. A. full turn out of the
members is requelftcd as these affairs
are much too enjoyable to miss.
The bowling schedule will be
drawn up this:;,,week for Scotch
doubles, playe. on the plus and minus
system for Valua'1'ite prizes. The draw

New Club House.—The Seaforth
Golf and Country Club have purchas-
ed a building which they will have
mewed this winter out to the golf
course; on the farm of Mt'. Thomas
Dodds, in McKillop, and remodelled
into a club house. When the club
house is completed the Golf Club will
not only have .coinmlodions quarters,
but one of the best and prettiest
courses in ^Western -Ontario.

Notes.—A very successful social
evening 'was spent in cards and in
dancing in the Opera House last Fri-
day night. The spacious hall was
,beautifully decorated and the music
was perfect. Many who were not
dancers came to hear Flannigan's
Orchestra from Wingharq, and they
were not disappointed.—Tim Sullivan

A Good Fire Extinguisher. '— On
Thursday evening last, on Main street
Mr. George Lilly, of •.town, the dis-
tributing agent for the Pronto Fire
Extinguisher, gave a' most successful
demonstration of the working ofethat
apparatus and its wonderful quick-
ness in smothering fires. A large
steel tank, filled with. kindling, over
which gasoline- Was poured and then
ignited, was used as a demonstration
and the . quickness with which the
Bre was put out iby the Pronto ex-
tinguisher was reallg: amazing.. The
display was witnessed by a . Targe
Crowd of citizens whidh included the
Mayor, several of the council board
and a number. of the Members, of the
Fire - Brigade, and the work of the

Ladies Meet.—The ladies' Aid of
No. 8 met at the home of. Mrs. Will
Sproat one day last week, when .a
most happyegethering of ladies spent
a profitable and pleasant afternoon.
While mirth and conversation were.
freely indulged in, the needles were
busy quilting two quilts' which have
already been disposed of. One of the
quilts was pieced by ;Mrs. William'
Murray, eighty-one years of age.
When the quilts were finielied,. a•
pleasant event took place, it being
the seventeenth anniversary of the,
president's marriage; The members
of the Aid presented her with an
appropriate gift, while the vice-presi-
dent read a short and amusing ad-
dress. This was only pne of the
pleasant meetings of No. 3 Society,
and gifter a bountiful lunch was serv-
ed all departed to their several homes.
