Notes. -John Anderson, Sr., is a-
way on a trip to friends at Dundalk
and other plpces.-This week Gordon
Rintoul, fifth line, returned to his
'studies at Knox College. We wish
him a term marked by. success. -Miss
Lillian 'Flatt is back from an extend-
ed stay in the West and will make
her- home with Mrs.. Charles Davis,
fourth line, her aunt.-AJdrian and
Mrs. Porteous and Mr. and -Mrs. Far-
quhar and children, of Seaforth, were
visitors with 'Henry and Mrs. Bone
and William and Mrs. Sellers. -Mrs.
Jermyn, who has spent, the .past two
years in Toronto and Detroit, its via-
iting with 'her daughter Mrs. C. Rog-
erson and at the 'home of Wesley
Jermyn. Her many friends welcome
her back again.
Presentation. -A birthday party
was given recently at the home of A.
P. Joynt, Seuforth, in honor of Miss
Suasiis Latttmer, who has gone to
North•„Bay to •attend Normal school.
The party was given by the Mission
Band of Eernontiville church of which
`Miss Susie 'had been the efficient sec-
retary for some time. One of the
pleasing events of the afternoon was
the presentation to Miss Susie of a
Presbyterian Hymnal. The good
wishes of the Mission Band go with
Susie an'd her mother to her new
home. They visited relatives and
friends in Morris before going to the
Northland.

Twenty loads- of a receipt of Over
7.000 head were billed through. Waving 8,-
600 head on offer, and trade opened any dull
with a decline of 25 Cent. from 77turadar

closing price offered. Up to.noon the pack-
er. bought only enough cattle to get killing
stented at the plants, and It was only when
salesmen began to accept prices from 60 to
76 cents lower than fiat Monday that trade
became at all active. Olos. to 2,000 head
were left unsold for the close. There were
n fair number of real good heavy cattle pres-
ent, but even those moved glow, as there
was practically no demand for exporters, ex-
cept at a prier offer that the seller would
not consider. The best load on o0ef, 20
head, averaging 1,370 pounds, brought 7%
cents, end the only kind of cattle sold above,
that figure re baby beeves, t few at 07.81,
The only class showing any strength was the
amble • butpher cows, which were a Pale
suppb, and told steady at from 6 to 51c.

lower prices, stocker and feeder trade was
