CLINTON
Briefs. -The annual -business meat-
ing of the Ladies' W. M. S. for the
Presbytery of Huron was held in
Willis' church here on Tuesday of
this week. A goodly attendtgice of
oMoera were present, and the different
reports presented were of a very en-
couraging suture. --A very pleasant
evening was spent at the home of
Mr. Donald Smith, Isaac street, re-
cently -the occasion being the coming
marriage of his daughter. Her young
friends bestowed a very bountiful
shower of useful articles and a very
happy time was spent by all. -If ail
reports are trite some more of our
hat-maldng- ladies contemplate leav-
ing this somewhat nerve-racking em-
ployment for the more congenial
haunts of their own home and fire-
side. --Mr. Thomas Metric, of Kippen,
spent a few hours in town recently.
Mr. Meters amidst all the up and
downs of life, still is able to be a
living example of the truth, "A merry
heart doeth good like medicine; his
hearty hand shake and merry laugh
betokens a soul that is ever refreshed
with the eternal desire that bespeaks
a close acquaintance with the glorious
gospel of redeeming love. -Coal is
coming along quite freely, and the
citizens generally are well prepared
for the present cold snap. --The /nary
friends of Dr. Gunn will be pleased
to learn that he is on the fair road to
recovery from his recent indisposi-
tion. The doctor has helped many a
patient over a very tough piece of
road and the universal wish of his
many friends is that while the
shadows lengthen that his vision be
not dimmed or his steady hand and
nerve fail nut.
