Some young m en of this village had
a lively cowboy experience with a frac-
tious Co*.*hi Lh 'was being delivered to
mr. Herringer, butcher, yesterday. The
animal got away from them and they
were hilly four hours in capturing .and

hr. W; H. Schneider is having a brick
addition built at the West end of the
mildinay roller mill which will be fitted
up for an office. The present office
takes up a considerable space of the
wareroom which is badly needed for
-storage purposes. The new building is
a very strong structure and theiron
bars across the windows suggests a lock-
up, but rar. S. evidently intends it as a
lock -out for burglars.
Death came very suddenly to Mr.
Jacob Bilger, one of the earliest settlers
of Carrick, last Thursday, at his farm,
lot 12, eon. 13. The young folks were
away at the Walkerton Fair and the old
gentleman started in the afternoon for
a field to dig some potatoes, leaving his
aged wife ill in her room. As he did
not return in the evening one of the
members of the household started for
the field after dark to look for him, only
to find the body cold in death from the
result of heart failure. Mr. Bilger
came to Carrick from Germany in the
year 1854 and during his long residence
here has gained the esteem of a wide
circle of friends. He leaves a wife and
seven children to mourn his loss. His
funeral, on Sunday last was largel y
attended.
