• Notes. -The funeral of Mr. Michael
Watters, the oldest resident of this
burg and the oldest member of St.
Patrick's church, took place Tuesday
at 9.30 a.m. Rey. Father Noonan,
P.P., sang the mass. - Interment web
at St. Columban. Rev. Father Mc-
Cardle officiated at the grave. Mr.
Walters came from Ireland when a
young man of twenty and "settled in
Ribbert township. Some years ago
ke and his aged wife moved to Dublin
where they resided until last Septem-
ber, when. both went to London to the
home for the aged where they had
every kind ,:attention from the -good
sisters of St. Joseph. Mr. Walters
was in his 95th year and pasaed away
peacefully on Sunday night. His re-
mains were brought to Dublin by the
G.T.R. on Monday. Besides his aged
wife one son, Joseph, survives. -Mr.
Oswald Walker, of Cromarty, ship-
ped a car load of fat cattle to To-
ronto on Tuesday. On his way to
the city he will call at the Fat Cattle
Show at Guelph. -Mr. lack McGrath
will shortly remove to the farm lately
purchased from Mr. Joseph Watters.
-Mrs. Jas. Redmond is slightly in-
disposed and confined to her home.
We hope the good lady will soon re-
gain her 'usual health. The taxes opfp
the villagers are quite high. The
principal part of it' is that a rate-
payer does' not receive much benefit
frac the street lighting rate and the
chemical engine debenture • rate.
Through the manipulation of the Hy-
dro, -we must have electric, lights on
moonlight nights, and some times in
daytime whether we wish or not and
must pay about five times as much
for power as they do in Toronto,
