The Late Edward Drager. -- On Saturday last a gloom was cast over the neighborhood when the sad news waslearned of the death of Mr. Ed. Drager, He took a saroke three weeks ago an& a second one, to which he succumbed. He was born fifty- one years ago .on the farm adjoining the one he has lived on since his mar- riage twenty-five years ago to Miss Kennedy, from Port Elgin. _ He was Frei suolxlsnpul f2upiaohi pang honest in his dealings. Some twenty years ago he fell from the .scaffold `in the barn from which shock he never fully recovered. The funeral took place last Mondays to the Lutheran •cemetery, Brodhagen, of which church 'he was a life long member. He is survived by his partner in life, four 'sons and one daughter, Mrs. R. Hul- ley, all at home, who have the sym- pathy of the whole community in this their hour of Slid Afietiot. • Fall Work In the Garden. Harvest the late cabbage, cauli- flower and celery; much of this can be put away carefully in storage and held until well on through the win- ter. Slight moisture and 36 deg. F. - ',for roots, dry and cool for onions, ;gid dry 72 deg. F. for winter !squash. JAZ this time the garden sho'ull[rbs -well manured and deeply ploughed so -as to admit the frost to mellow it. Cut off and burn the asparagus tops, and clean up the rhubarb bed ;for next year, giving it a coating of 1.manure.. Take up some parsley plants, put 'them in pots or boxes and allow them to grow in the house. , - Some counsel given early: All vines killed by frost should be clean- ' -ed up. Root crops except the parsley and salsify should be taken out be- fore the ground becomes too wet. Squash and pumpkins should be gathered before frosted. On vacant ground sow rye at the rate of three bushel to the acre to give a green ,crop for ploughing down in the -spring. Late celery should be hilted up to start the bleaching process be- fore it is put iiy storage. October Hints for Live Stock. Feeders- oan generally be selected. 'to advantage this month. Dipping ewes and lambs - this month will clean them up, and make =them comfortable and thrifty during ;the winter. - If ewes are given good pasture they will begin to gain, and be la best possible condition for breeding, .ensuring more lambs.. Stables .which are swept demi' and 'whitewashed after the fall threshing ,make more sanitary quarters far the :stock during winter. SEAFORTH MARKETS - Seaforth, November 11, 1920.
