'Notes ; - Owing to linfav:arable
weather, seeding' was suspended for
several days last week. -Mr. J. J.
Irwine, of Toronto, is in 1Mcxillop at
present looking after business interest.
-It has been said that Easter Sun-
day rules the harvest. If that be so,
the first part of harvest will be wet,
while the later portion will be very
flue. We are informed that : Mrs..
Zenry Stimore, of the 14th concession,
is on the sick list. We hope to hear -R
of her early recovery, -There seems
to have been considerable confusion in
the minds of some - local .writers in
mixing or trying to mix the practice
and theories of Bolshevism -with Social-
ism. However my understanding of
- socialism .is they contemplate the re-
construction a Society by the educa-
tion of the. while on the other
hand Bolshevism. in order to put its
theories into practice resorts to rev-
olution and anarchy and like autocracy
endeavors to maintain its power by
strangling the education of the people.
In short, socialism desires to bring
4. about the desired change by evolution,
while Bolshevism wants tb amend
mattera to suit there fancy byrevolu-
tion.

LIVE STOCK MARKETS
Union Stock Yards, Toronto, April 29. --
Following. upon Iast ~,reek's light shipments
this moring's offering was surprisingly small
and with the competition in general very
keen values for butcher cattle advanced from
25 to 50 Dents. The smaller advance con-
• cerned more. particularly that class of good
medium weight cattle which sold this morn-
ing from $14.75 to $15.50, the Ighter steers
and heifers and other butcher cattle, apart.
from the 'exception mentioned, being 60 cents
firmer than last week's close. The bulk of
the butchers. cashed in according to grades
from $18.25 to 514.50, and only a very small
a
percentage£ the offering sold under *12,
and the pens were cleaned up in good time.
Cows and bulls were an equally active and
stronger trade and with a continuance of
light conisignments during the rest of the
week the stronger prices may hold good.
Sheep and Iambs were an active and steady
trade, while the market for claves was a good
dollar lower in most spots.
Hogs were steady to strong at a f.o.b.
