The smaller advance con- • cerned more. particularly that class of good medium weight cattle which sold this morn- ing from $14.75 to $15.50, the Ighter steers and heifers and other butcher cattle, apart. from the 'exception mentioned, being 60 cents firmer than last week's close. The bulk of the butchers. cashed in according to grades from $18.25 to 514.50, and only a very small a percentage£ the offering sold under *12, and the pens were cleaned up in good time. Cows and bulls were an equally active and stronger trade and with a continuance of light conisignments during the rest of the week the stronger prices may hold good. Sheep and Iambs were an active and steady trade, while the market for claves was a good dollar lower in most spots. Hogs were steady to strong at a f.o.b. price of 521,75 and fed and watered hogs at $22,75, but a reaction is likely to take placei( sot to -morrow, very soon.
