Notes. --Quite a gloom was east
over the village on Sunday morning
'when Roina Mr. Sawers announced the
death of Mr. MoCool, which occurred
on Saturday. Heart trouble was the
cause of his death. The remains were
interred in the Clinton cemetery on,
Tuesday -Mr. Henry Crawford, died
after a few days illness on Saturday.
He was buried in *e Union cemetery
on Tuesday. -Mrs. (Dr.) Young and
daughter are visiting friends in Brant-
ford. -Mr. Joseph Stalker spent a
few days this week with his sister,
Mrs. Geddes .-Mr. and Mrs. Grover
have returnesl after a week's visit in
Toronto.

ed to the Great Beyond in his 46th
year. Thoodeceased was b-ce'n in Tuck-
ersmith in 1884. She family >later
moved to Hullett where he made his
home until coming to this township

lot 9, concession 5, till called by death,
caused by influenza. He was a paw-
ising young man in the prime ofIlltte,
a true friend, a kinsfqind loving neigh-
bor ever ready to give whelping hand
He leaves to mourn his loss besides
his father and mother, who were with
him during his illness anti death, sev-
en brothers and two sisters, John of
Tuckeramith, Thomas, Arthur, Jame,
Theodore, Orville,. Harolel, Mrs. Wm.>
Ross and Miss Lizzie at home. all of
Ifullett. The floral tributes were most
beautiful, among them beings.a wreath
from the family and the brethren of
the L .0 .L. No. 1035, Varna, of whielt
he was a valuedmember. The fun-
eral took place on Monday to the
>cemetery. The services were conduct-
ed by Rev. 3. A., Agnew, of Clinton.
The faraily have the sympathy of the
whole community in their sad be-
reavement. The pallbearers were his
six brothers, Thomfas, John, Arthur,
James, Harold and Orville.

Montreal, Januaey 14. -The weeks receipts
a live stock at the west end cattle market -
have been 1600 cattle, 2500 beep and lambs,
1850 hogs and 250 calves. This morning the
offerings consisted of 1000 cattle, 1700 sheep
and lambs, 950 hogs and 100 oalves.
The trading on the market to -day was of
greater proportions than for some time past,
and it was evident that the recent advance in
Prices had been edinitted by traders and that
they felt the necessity of replenishing sup-
plies without anticipating any reductions in
the near future.
Priem for cattle oontinue to be very firm,
but the Market for hogs ie weaker there hav-
ing been reductions in some instances of as
must: as 50 ta 75 cents per 100 pound,. Hogse
contracted for last week by traders, however,
were scheduled gore delivery at 519; but the
Prevailing price was $18.50 fele choice selects
although some stated that they were getting
515.75.
A good number a these were on the market,
and the demand, while • good. was not of re-
markable proportions.
There was a fair trade also in lambs and
sheep. but prices is these lines do not seem
to change meta, possibly owing to the faet,
that demand and supply are -so equally balan-
