llnior. Stock ravel, Toronto, Octoberlat.-
The cattie market at Toronto is weak -in al -
meet every branch. Yesterday trading Was
eery slow, apd, after a couple of hours bus-
iness- pricse `declined frona 25 to 50 cents on
ali grades of cattle. An extra lot of heavy
elvelt had been shipped in on the understand-
ing that the abattoirs were looking for this
ease of meat, but, whether they were in as
keen need of heavy animals as had been be-
lieved by the drover is a question. Thew
-heavy cattle suffered 'quite as mu.eh of a set
'seek as the common and medium animal.%
'Prelting the, market as a whole it was quite
1.15e lower than at the close of last week. The
littlederaand that existed seemed to be for
at*ra thzd heifers -Weighing from 900 to 1000
wands-. A few lots averaging these weighed
eaStied at 313 and 313.25 per cwt., the highest
figures of thedayne big influence Planing
a leading part Jo the downward. trend' of the
market is the fact that Western cattle are
now arriving daily. Yesterday there were
irons, 15 to 20 cars of Western stuff. When
the buyers know that there is a lot of cattee
tn transit they have a better opportunity of
nicteting prices. This was the ca.se on Men -
den Ow.; • and bulls were slow sellere.
Practically no good CONV3.- or bulb were of,:
feted. anti as a result trading in this section
et` the market was quite AS Si*W as in the case
ef the stere arid heifers. Very few coves were
meet above 39.50 per eat. The top price for
le:4115 Was about $10 per cwt. -
The etooker_ trade was fairly- active, and
;ince; up fie $10 per cwt. for choice orofitable
oseders were Paid in many cases. Milk cows
were toiling well atadvances of about $5 per
eeae, Se-veral choice dairy COIF3 sold above
3165 co ee.
Teere was, a decidedly easier feeling to the
eueine iamb market. Prices were off any-
weere From 50 cents th 31 per cwt. The top
Price for spring stock was $17.25. and most of
the offerings cashed at o below 317 per cwt.
Siaeo were about steady at frora $13 to
Unite ees the best. Choice yearling's were
e earn- et from 514.60 to s.15.50 per owt.
Hoe eriese were unchanged, but the buyers
an! out quotations for the week at 31

eel s zree eases ander that figure. The quo-
te -nen sent out by most of the commission
men yeeterday were on this same basis. Hog
sere -lees have been very light nu.ring the past
but despite the fact, the abat-
toirs heel the opinien that they °an buy for
