SEAFORTH FALL FAIR
The Seaforth Agricultural Society
were rnost unfortunate in their choict
of dates for their annual Fall Fair
held at the Agricultural Park on
Thursday and Friday of last week,
as the weather on both days was most
unfavorable. The Society this year
went to_very considerable expense in
making improvements to the Agricul-
tural hall and grounds; and previding
a liberal'premium list and special at-
trations, and it is most unfortunate
thattheir efforts were not rewarded
with more seasonable weather. In
spite of the weather, however, there
was an excellent show, and a large at-
tendance. In the. indoor exhibit the
display of ladies' work was a large
and varied one and the best seen for
some years. The display of fruit alko,
wee above the average of the past few
years, especially the apples, which
class made an excellent showing. Oth-
er departments were .also well repre-
sented and the display by a number
of the town merchants added mater-
ially to the appearance of the build-
ing. On Friday the weather was cold
and showery most of the day but for-
tunately, was Meal -mahout noon and be-
fore the judging commenced there was
a large atendance, which would prob-
ably have been .doubled -during the -
afternoon had not a heavy yain shower
arrived before three o'clock. The pro-
gramme was carried out, however, as
ad-eertised, even the races, :and al-
though the track was almost imposs-
ible, they were good and created a
great deal of interest. The horse en-
try this year was not up to the aver-
age as to numbers, but the quality was
there, and in several classes the com-
petition was keeo

what would otherwise haye been a re-

added much to the afternoon's enter-

evening which was one of the best held
here for some time and which was
very largely attended. The gate re-

which is about half the recepits of last

horses, the classes being well #1Ied and
the competition keen, while the cattle,
sheep and hogs were fully up to the
standard. Owing to the previous -wet
weather the races had to be declared
off, which was a cause of disappoint-
