A TRIBUTE TO THE 7th C.R.T.
They answered from the railways,
From farmland, . shop and mill,
They rallied . to the Capital
And lined up on the hill.
A motley crew, ii sooth, were they, -
From north . and east and :west,
Some minus eyes; but alt prepared
To do their level best. •
A month they had to leave their homes
A month to give up all;
A short,, short month before they
sailed,
.
So heeded they the call.
= T,hey did'iit one ;those -willing -lads
To fight the• loathsome Hun,
They didn't train for half a year,
Or learn to shoot a gun.
"France in tvvo months"_ their slogan
was,
A triflequick you say,
But right behind the. British lines,
You'll find them, friend, today..

The Reasonable Prices
They're not all brawny stalwart chaps,
ut still their hrts ring true;
They heard the call to duty,
And answered P. D. Q.
Armed with picks and shovels, •
From. sunset until dawn;
They've worked -mid hellish shell fire,
And many, alas, have gone.
The troubled fields of Belgium,
Their monument shall be;
For there you see their handiwork,
From the YYser to the sea.
Just miles and miles of- even grad,
And miles and miles cif track,
That will last for mangy a score of
years,
After all the boys get back.
Day after day, night after •night,
These :little tracks. convey,
Countless trains of heavy shells
To speed the- victory, day.
So, though ignorant. of fighting,
And none too sure of drill,
The Railway Trappe are doing much
To enforce the nation's- will.
And if in years to come, perchance,
The battlefields you see, -
Just kneel before the cross that bears,.
