Death of Mrs. Charles Diidde,:"
One 01 the oldest and most hig10 re-"
epected pioneer reaidento of the te;Wn-
ship, passed away at the home of her
eon in Vanguard, Sask.., on Friday of
last week, in the pawn of Mrs.
Charles Dodds, at the great age of 80,
&ears. The late Mrs. Dodds, echoing
maiden name- was Ellen Torrance. Wan
born in Londe -alarm Ireland. ' Coin-
ing to Canada as a child she made her
home with her uncle, the late Robert
Hays, of MeKillop, where she contin-
ued to reside until her marriage' to
Mr. Dodds nearly 60 years ago, whe,n
they moved to the 5th concession. on
.lot 32, -which has since been her
home. For the past ten or -twelve
years she has suffered a good deal
/rpm ill health, but was enabled to
make several trips to the west te-Visit
different merabe.rs of her family.
Shortly after the death of her hus-
. band ,eleven months ago she went to
visit her son in Vanguard, and it was
during this visit that the summons
eame. The 1 -mains were brought to
the old homestead ir: McKillop, from
'where the funeral services were con-
ducted en Thursday, the remains be--
ing laid besides thcee of her husband,
to whom she had been a true wife and,
helpmate through many long years, in,
Abe family plot in the Maitlandbank
-cemetery-, the services being verte
largely attended by many old neigh,
tors and friends by whom she was
deservedly inved and esteemed. Mrs.
Dodds is survived by a family of nine
'eons: Sohn in Dakota; James and An -
dew, Swift Currern, Sask. Peter and
'Thomas, iri Vaneuard, Sask.; Charles,
in Vancouver; William, in Burlington,'
North Dakota; George, in Pontiac,'
Task m` and Robert, on the homestead.

of The Dungannon News, who enlisted

week owing to the fact that the
supply of all grades was ample to fill
all requirements. The demand from
butchers and packers was steady for
all grades of useful stock and a fair
*ode was done; with sales of choic
steers. at $10,25 to $10.50. per 10
pounds.
