The feature of the market was the
general strength in all prices, with
hogs showing the stem:west trend.

amounted. to 1860 and early in the
morning ever -stating was cleaned up
at prices ranging 11"0111 18.25 to $18.-
50 for Alert run and $18.50 to $18.-

There was not suc-4i a demand for
sheep as for ,.the 'other varieties of
isma/1 meets and pricesiwere prod:teal-
ly unchanged from. those of last week
at 51/2 to 91/ec for ewes, and 8 to 81/4c
for bucks and culls.
For Quebec lambs also, the demand
Was rather slow when compared with
that for the western Ontario animal,
and the latter $14.25 to $14.35.
The demand for milch cows was
tnore active than during last week,
and the few choice animpls on the
market fetched from 5110 to $120
leach, while medium stock sold at $75
to $80 each.

market this morning, but foe all other

had been cleaned up, the cattle which
remained made a steady procession
over the scales at the lower value
and comparatively few cattle • were

a shade under $185 per head, so that
Harris Abbattoir, who made the par- I
chase from J. B. Shields, had to pay
