Montreal, Jan. 9th. -At the Montre-
al stock yards, west end market, the
'receipts of live stock for the week end-
ing January fith, were 1000 cattle. 1300
sheep and lambs, 2500 hogs and. 300
oalves. The offering on the market
this morning for sale amounted to 600
cattle, 900 sheep and lambs, 1200 hogs
and 100 calves. Cattle prices scored an
•advance of 25 to 50c per cwt., and
•-prices for steers ruled 50c per cwt.,
Iigber; cows and bulls 25c and can-
ningestock 30 -46 50e. The trade in
'butcher's cattle -was fairly active
with sales of chotte steers at 39.75 to
• $10; and good at 39.25 to $9.50 per
-cwt. In canning cattle sales of bulls• ,
were made at $5.50 to 35.60 and cows
at $4.75 to $4.185 per cwt. Buyer bid
113.25 for choice lots of Ontario lambs
-while drovers asked $13.50, but trade
was slow. Hog prices today scored a
-further advance of 10 th 25c per cwt.
The trade was fairly active with sales
of choice selected lots to packers at
313.60 to 313.75; good selects at 113.50
sows, at 11.40 to 311.70; and stags at
36.75 to 36.85 per cwt. weighed off cars
At the Canadian Pacific livestock mar-
ket the receipts of live stock for the
